I know many of the women on here have talked about how pms is insane for them and sends oylur moods through the roof. Well since I have been on this abilify shot I feel really stable. And then I got my period this month and things were SO calm I didn't even know I was getting it!!
Did anyone else notice this change when thy were stable?

And I discovered that my castles stand

Doesn't matter if I'm stable or not. Up to a week before my period I'm not a very nice person to be around and am emotional and down feeling. During it I'm fine though.

I'm bat **** crazy during pms I've talked to pdoc and regular doc, pdoc suggest meeting with gyno, probably should make that appointment, my hormones are playing a huge factor in my mood swings for sure. I'm nuts for two weeks then depressed two

I have a problem with PMDD as well as bipolar. I found since going on the depo provera shot, the PMDD is gone because I'm not getting my cycle. It's quite nice because even though I was stable i'd still go crazy a couple days before my cycle.

Once I had my partial hysterectomy, that went away. I don't know why since I still have my ovaries! I think maybe it's because I don't cramp anymore or have a 10 day period! LOL

Yes being on zyprexa my pms symptoms have really lessened unless I'm really stressed...being medicated has really helped with my pms. I have pmdd so it's amazing how much meds have helped. So glad you're getting relief.

My surgeon says this happens to everyone after a hysterectomy. I asked if that meant that having the bodies' signs that a period was coming was enough to cause everything and she said absolutely not, that PMS is very real but she has no explanation for it. Sure enough I haven't had pms or the like since my hysterectomy and since menopause it's even better. Until this last year of horribleness I was noticeably better without hormone changes all the time.

I wish. But for the past let's say year, I'll randomly be a wreck the week of my period. Case in point, this week. I started on Tuesday and I've been extra depressed.
But I had already been sliding down anyway..

Then again I can go a few months in a row without any problems. The joys of being a female

Before I was put on Lithium I would go a little crazy every month. It effected work and relationships so it was a big deal. Once on Lithium though my monthly visits started to pass without any pain, emotional turmoil or insomnia. Not happy to have to be on Lithium but it is a good side benefit.

I'm just reading the comments and happy to know I'm not alone. I was complaining about mood swings around my cycle long before I was dx with BP. Recently my pdoc sent me to have some hormone testing done. Everything was normal, my brain's response to hormonal fluctuations is the problem. The depo provera shot has been suggested but I won't try it. I have had bad experiences with depression with birth control pills, patches, and rings. I just brace myself every month for the ride. Sometimes it's up. Sometimes it's down.

I always struggled with PMDD.
I could set my watch by how it affected my mood.
I would get extremely irritable, grumpy & hateful for a few days. Then crash into hopeless, weeping despair for a few days until the Red Witch decided to show up.
Then like a light switch....I was happy again.
Every month.
I have rapid cycling BP2.

Does anyone else get really bad cramping? For me it can be so horrible it feels like I'm in labor! (And I've been in labor so I know how that feels!) I end up moaning and writhing in pain until I can get some midol in me.

Sorry for that tmi!

I just hate it. Emotional and down and grumpy before it, in pain and unable to sleep during it... I wish I could turn it off. I don't want to have anymore kids!

Raspberry-have you talked to your gyn about this? I had a polyp that was causing a lot of pain every month. She was sure I had ovarian cysts too but couldn't find them. However when I had a hysterectomy (this was because of other issues) about a year later it turned out that I had deformed fallopian tubes and that was causing problems through the cycle since the eggs would get stuck in the tubes.

Those aren't why i had the hysterectomy; I had severe bleeding after entering menopause and so I had it removed and they found the issues. But the hysterectomy was awesome. Until now when I have to wear incontinence pads to sleep because I've almost wet the bed twice and that's a side effect of this stuff. I didn't miss having a pad on........

I read somewhere women with bp get extra bad pms and reading on here it seems to be the case. I'm glad for those who got relief and praying for relief for those who didn't get it!
I turned a special kind of psycho the week before my period lol so I feel for you if you are going through it
I'm hoping it stays this calm!

Clozaril. It can cause bedwetting at night. I've had some very close calls so I'm wearing protection.

Oh gosh, you're not alone. I'm a mess for about a week before it...and honestly kinda mean and paranoid.....and then it starts and I have an "oh." moment and feel terrible for acting like a crazy person all week. It's always just about a week before though. Once I start I level out usually. I feel so bad for my fiancé.
