Hi,
I'm currently on 900mg lithium a day and it really helps the mania, however I'm now in a deep depression mixed with dysphoric mania at times. What other medication would help to augment this depression. Does anyone else take other meds along with their mood stabilizers? SSRI's, other mood stabilizers etc?

I take Lexapro with lithium. It's only been about a month but I was in a depression for a few months prior to and it seems to be working well.

Hey so I was put on Lithium 6 months ago n It doesnt help me at all. In fact doc says for last 3 months ive been in a bipolar depressive episode for the last 3 months. It just slowly got worse til I am now a big mess. I was on 900mg lithium n also takin abilify. Didnt work for me it made things worse. So doc put me on lamotrigine n lorazapam n wellbutrin while still on the other meds. Shes gonna slowly tapper down on old meds n slowly increase the new as needed. I gained a lot of weight on lithium also. Gained 10lbs just in 2 months. So to answer your question...yes you can b on mood stabilizers n anti depressants. U should really get on one fast if your slippin into depression. So far im likin this wellbutrin but im only on day 2. Hope this helps!!!

I take wellbutrin in the a.m. and lithium in the p.m. Anxiety meds as needed.

I freaking love Wellbutrin! I know it doesn't work for some, but it was the first drug where I actually had some energy and did not feel the need to sleep all day.
I'm on two mood stabilizers and two ADs indicated below.

A long time ago when I was dxd w atypical depression and not bipolar they tried me on lithium for a year to see if it could lift the depression. It didn't. Currently I am taking paxil for my AD and am back on quitiapine as my mood stabilizer. For me the only meds that work on my depressions are ssris. I do carry the bipolar diagnosis now.
