In my pre-BP period (which is including a 10-year depression-only, warm up, period, before the age of 11), I used to compose music, write fiction, lyrics, I sang a lot more (my own music). So you could say the creative juices were there. However, after that, they kinda dried up and vaporised due to my depression and later manic activity, respectively.

The only non-artistic (in some way maybe artistic, but only in the very literal or BP broad sense), but definitely creative work I do is science and in particular theorising which is delusional creativity pretty much in the same way with which hallucinations relate to art and the (somewhat) more bizarre or paranoid delusions relate to fiction.

Theorising using the scientific method is reasoning from phenomena to systems of belief. What is more creatively psychotic than that?

Creativity is very much needed for scientific breakthroughs and we excel at it because we have to rationalise around corners of opposition, as if our life depended on it, now! Like our body being used by a crazy scientist (I prefer to call him by one of his many names: God) running a computer programme at absolute top speed in our minds. Leaving us shattered, but also having leaving us with the results: a new invention. Maybe actually very worthwhile (maybe not so much: better write it up as fiction!).

So, creative, yes. Never ceased, given every machine used at top speed has to be repaired and recharged.

I have been a photographer for 15 years. Got a BFA, specializing in portraiture, landscape, action sports, and alternative/historic photo process printing. The last few years have been rough with my motivation to do work with my camera, but I'm finally in a place where I am starting to shoot and print again.

I've been writing RPG for about 5 years now and have been told I'm not half bad at it. I'm currently in the process of making a group through yahoo groups with a friend. It takes a lot of creativity to come up with a whole world in and of itself.

Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

I'm very creative - especially during hypomanic periods. I am a multi-media artist and writer. My medication has ruined this. I cry that I can no longer do art and hate my meds but then I think about what manner my life would be without them.

I always doubted that I was bipolar because people with bipolar seem so creative, I on the other hand have no creative talents whatsoever! Its so interesting to read about everyone's creative talents.
