I recently filed for SSD. A few months ago in November.
I received a letter in the mail that states they we have found that you meet the medical requirements for disability payments. YEAH!!!

However it goes on to state that we have not made a decision about whether you meet the non-medical requirements, but we will make that decision soon!

How soon is soon? The letter was date 2/11/16. I am a little impatient.
Does anyone know what non-medical requirements are?

I didn't get anything like that when I was applying. I was notified by phone call from my local social security office when I had been approved, days before the letter came (which was nice and they were genuinely happy for me which was also nice).

I would guess non-medical might mean did you work enough quarters, etc although I'd think they'd check that first. I had to go through a little discussion to show that I could manage my money myself because someone had documented that I had trouble at times and they wanted to be sure I didn't need help with that.

I'd call your local ss office and see what that means. They'll know and you might even be lost in some pile of paperwork with a call to you planned.

Non medical requirement could mean that if you are working, you might have too many hours to receive payment. I think there is only so much you can make while on disability, I don't know how much that would be in NY.

You should if anything have a contact info included in the letter to call/write if you have any questions.
