I might be noticing a pattern. I smoke marijuana & I think it could sometimes be contributing to rapid mood shifts. I tend to try to lower my excited unfocused energy by smoking when it starts to drive me batty, this I think causes me to switch to a more dysphoric mood, sometimes not always. I always smoke when I'm elevated in an agitated way, when angry & dysphoric & often it causes me to then become more excited & elevated in a more positive way. If I'm apathetic anhedonic & depressed, I just become more depressed.

Do you feel it's helping more than hurting? Or you could just keep track of your moods and plan accordingly. Do you have any control over the strains you get?
Thanks for this!

I feel I've lost the control to not smoke when I know it might not help, I don't it anyway, I worry that the positive mood shift is simply me wanting the drug, being agitated & then getting it & it's all good. So overall I think it's not helping but I do it anyway. It's contributing to he confusion with my moods. I live in Australia so don't get any control over what I get.

It is currently in the process of being legalised medically but I highly doubt any form of mental illness will be receiving prescription marijuana in Australia anytime soon.

I use it. I am not in a legal state but have access to different high quality strains. I find it helpful, but not when manic.
Thanks for this!

It's still on the horizon of things I may try.
I saw a 2 part documentary called Weed. It's very complicated the amt of thc and the other stuff in it when they grow particular strains. Especially for seizures.
I'm still thinking about it. I smoked a little when young. It bothered my throat and the heat hurt my lips.

I'm about to head out to the garage to use a little right now. For good or bad I can't really say it has had a negative effect on my moods, quite the opposite. When I am up and flying the weed definitely helps me relax and sleep. When depressed or mixed it gives me a little reprieve from the madness and helps me to re center myself. That being said, I'm in the process of weaning myself off because I use it more than my healthy coping skills to deal with mood swings. Too bad I love the stuff and it's still illegal medically and otherwise here.

Be cautious of what you smoke if you never know what youre getting. Sometimes it can be good, and sometimes it can be bad in my experience. Also, certain psych pills and weed often dont mix.

I have heard of M having this effect on persons who have BP. Rapid cycling. The need for it sounds like the unfortunate self medication trap that some get into. I hope that it will work out for you.

I think its different for everyone. I'd do some research to see if any of your medications might iteract. Personally, I think benzos just make you more relaxed.
I dont think AP mix. When I was on AP called trilafon it made me exremely anxious and heart pounding so I stopped. Now that Im off it, it hasnt happened to me like that.

My old therapist also told me not to smoke on AD. But, I know many people who do.

you know your body best. Marijuana mood shifts
