I was put on 10mg of Abilify. I had several of the serious side affects. For those of you on Abilify how long does it take for the symptoms to go away?

I had very bad restless leg and I think heart palpitations on 20mgs. I stopped it once that started because it drove me nuts and they stopped right away. Not fun.

I had the akithesia. I waited it out a month but it didn't get better, so I can't take Abilify.

My psychiatrist won't help me. He told me to go the ER. I kept telling the nurse I'm not sick.

I had rapid weight gain on Abilify.
I made the pdoc take me off it and the weight started
to melt off as soon as i stopped taking it.

Are you still taking it? Or you have stopped?

I remember now I had a lot of irritability on it, pacing more than usual. That was a long time ago. I think it got better quickly when I stopped taking it. Hope you're ok

I had akathesia, went off of it then restarted it a few years later. I don't notice any side effects now. No weight gain that I can sense. I have been on it for a few years at either 10 or 15 mg.

I took it last night and I feel nauseous. I left his nurse a message asking him if he would reduce it from 10 to 5mgs. I should get a call back today from her.

If he won't reduce it I am going to break each pill in half so I get 5mgs.

I would consider discontinuing it if your symptoms are worrying enough. Of course you should consult with your pdoc first. I know I had to stop for my own sanity because I wasn't sleeping a wink. No way could I deal with another night of the kicks! Yuck!

Abilify has made such a big difference in my mood and alleviated my extreme anxiety but I've gained 10 pounds in 2 months. It's making me want to discontinue it. Has anyone had problems with this?

I take the monthly abilifye shot and there must be something in the way it is released I don't get ANY side effects. I haven't gained any weight but it seems to make losing weight extra hard!

If it were me, I would consider getting a new psychiatrist. Yours doesn't sound too helpful. I can't imagine being told to go the emergency room when an adjustment in meds was all that was necessary.
Thanks for this!
