I'm at war against the meds.

1st is the trazodone. @50mg now.
2nd will be the Lamotrigine. I have problems with this one,
since I can't find definitive info about tapering off.
3rd Xanax. To dream... the impossible dream....

Any input will be highly appreciated. Thank you for reading.

I see the pdoc on Monday and I'm hoping to get off of it since I don't feel like it's doing anything. At least not at this dosage. I'll fill you in after that. Otherwise I'm sure many others have more experience than I do with it. Good luck!
Thanks for this!

When my pdoc was taking me off lamictal she had me going down 50mg every ten days.

But she also thinks that no one has withdrawal symptoms going off lamictal so I wouldn't necesarily trust the above unless you are one of the people who has zero withdrawal from it. (Which isn't me!)

Thank you!. Althought I take the pdocs opinions with a grain of salt.
Specially about med reactions.
I'm at 200 mgs and it's not getting me out of the depression.
Time for a kewl change!.

Be careful, anticonvulsants can cause seizures in people who don't even have a history of epilepsy if stopped suddenly or too rapidly. That's what happened with me and Depakote.

Seems to be easy enough. In fact, too easy. I've read 10% per month.
At the 10% pace I will die on 100mgs, hehe.

I see you're still @ 400mgs. So is working for you. Super!!!.

Depakote, man. That med should be packaged inside a black box warning.
Thanks for this!

I went to a hundred and something mgs but quit cold turkey because it made me dysphoric. No problems at all. Then I went to trileptal and finally found peace. Of course ask your pdoc though.

I quit from 300mg over the course of about a week. Definitely was kind of too fast for me. I don't think I'd decrease by more than 25mg a day.

I had lots of side effects from Lamectal, and was only taking 75 mg, 2 times daily. My pdoc had me tapper by reducing 25 mg for each dose, hold there for 10 days, then reduce again. By that time my new medicine (Seroquel) had been tapered up. I feel better after eliminating the Lamectal and I hope that's the same for you.
Thanks for this!

Be careful when you're getting off lamotrigine. It can cause that deadly rash. If possible, get medical supervision. Otherwise what I've heard is to decrease it slowly, with at least two weeks between each change. It takes forever to get the dose up, and it will take just as long to get it down safely. Besides the rash, I think there are some other nasty side effects of going down too quickly.

I missed your post. Better late than never.
Thank you for your concern. I'm going slow, I know it's serious.
It depends on the medical supervision. Pdoc wanted me off 200mg in 4 weeks.
Will neven happen. Same doctor asked if there were 200mg pills.
So this is how much she knows about lamotrigine.
