I've been confronting this problem for a long time.

I have dinner, take a few meds. before going to bed, eat something lighter,
more meds.
Wait for an hr so I can take the xanax. And after I'm ready to sleep, BOOM!! I'm hungry again. Hafta get up and stuff myself.
Last night I ate 5 cups of cereal with almond milk. Can't stop.
Then I don't get a good night sleep, because some of the meds already faded.

I'm never able to go back to bed during the day. Let alone sleep.
So I'm a mess today.

Any tips for a sleepless soul?. Thank you for reading.

Hi. I just limit the snack. Keep a pitcher of hot/warm water on table by the bed. So I drink lots of water. Pee a lot. But go right back to sleep.

If I eat too close to bedtime I lie awake either cuz of gerd symptoms or the digestion process. Is something like that making it hard for you to sleep? Another thought about bedtime snacking, what about a gradual taper of the volume/calories? It's really hard to just give up a bedtime snack if that's part of the sleep preparation ritual. Whatever works to get a good night sleep is the way to go. I'm sorry you feel like a mess today. That's really tough.
Thanks for this!

I've read (sometimes we read too much) that the xanax loses efectiveness
if taken with food.
I only take .50mgs at bedtime and .25mgs when I go to the bathroon.

Now i'm taking Lithium and Remeron on top of Trazodone.

I'm thinking of taking the Lithium later with the Traz and Remeron,
and the xanax at the same time.
I'm playing with fire here. Serotonin Syndrome.
Really don't know what to do. Doctors never tell us how to take the pills.

Let me start all oyer again. I'm rambling.
My temporary cocktail: Lamotrigine, xanax, trazodone, remeron and Lithium.
I'm tapering from the Lamotrigine and Trazodone. That's why so many pills.
Thanks for this!

I get up and watch tv and chew sugarless gum. Drink a lot of water too. Hope that helps.
Thanks for this!

Thank you for your concern.
No problems with digestion. But I toss, turn and have some involuntary movements. This can be the Lithium.
I'm using almond milk now. 30 calories. Instead of 130 for 2% milk.
So calories are coming down.
I'm also thinking of preparing the snack(s) before going to bed. An maybe placing it next to the bed. There are 30 steps between the bed and the kitchen, And only 4 more to the computer. That kills me too. Let's see.

Just a though: the last dr I worked for would give remeron to people to increase their appetite. And the Xanax gives people the "munchies" as well. So that combo may be what's going on. Ever since My huge increase of seroquel, I've woken up in the middle of the night, grab a snack size bag chips and bring them in the bed with me! Then I wake up in a big mess. I gained 4 lbs in 2 wks.

But now I have a rule, once my head hits the pillow, there is no getting up unless to pee. The kitchen is off limits. I also cut way back on my full cal energy drinks. I lost the meesly 4lbs in a wk.

Set rules and boundaries for yourself! Good luck!

Thank you for your reply.

I also chew on sugarless gum and drink water.
Mostly during the day for dry mouth.
And eat a good dinner.
Maybe it's one or several of the pills that make me hungry.

Hi Rx,
I may be fighting 4 enemies then. Since the Traz also gives "the munchies".
Never new about the xanax. Remeron is legendary. Let alone the Lithium.
I'm going to do something different tonite. Knowing very well I have no willpower of whatsoever. Thank you for the tips!.

BTW, I miss your previous pic with the purple flower.

Remeron is weird and the higher the dose the less it should cause hunger/sleepiness. I took it partly for sedation and did pretty well on 45-60 mg (with mood stabilizers).

I'm taking 15mg, so I'm in the hunger zone.
