I have been on Depacote for 2 years for stability. I no longer have extreme feeling of euphoria. It's as though my pleasure sensors have been destroyed. Things that I once enjoyed doing for fun and pleasure I still want to do, but I don't get the euphoric feelings, the feelings of knowing how pleasurable the activity will be, to push me to go do them any longer. It sux. I am in my mid 40's.
Is it my meds, my age, or both? |

I'm in the same boat with you, I'm 45 and there is no joy in my life when there should be. I'm trying to figure out what it is that is missing for me. Something definitely is. All the meds I take really aren't doing anything so I need to start searching within me for an answer... Scares me to

Yep, I'm 49 and have been medicated since my mid 40s. I too feel a deadening of the joy I've had previously. I actually miss being hypo/manic. In particular I crave to once again be able to be creative and make art. People look at the fact I am now relatively stable and think I should have some happiness in that but they don't seem to understand.
Certainly it IS the medications. My psychiatrist told me this would would happen. I want the excitement back but realize that it had come at great cost - which still affects me. I don't like my meds but know full well the mess my life would be in if I went off them. |

Thank you all so much for your replies. It's "unfortunate" that I am not the only one that feels this way, however it's nice for me to know that there are others that can relate with my experience.
