So another holiday is coming up. I remember when I used to like them. Now I dread them like crazy. I think because I always get stuck in a position where I have to somehow pull my house together before everyone comes over. I'm kind of tired of having crap at my house every holiday. It's very stressful for me. But my brother comes in from out-of-state, so it can't be there. The only other place it could be is my mom's. And that will just not happen. I enjoy seeing everyone, but I'm just so stressed out! I can't seem to get myself to start cleaning it up today.

Just say No and have them stay but go out to a restaurant for the meal and a movie or something rather then go through the expense at your house or just buy a pizza or chinese food and bring home to eat. Traditions are meant to be broken when we no longer can keep them due to our change in health or social status. (((hugs)))

I like the above suggestion. Go out for a meal. They might even enjoy it more, you never know.

I would die if my family showed up to my door expecting June Clever and a nice ham! In other words, I'm a mess and it shows. I would agree with others to go out or even have it catered to you. Not sure if theres a Boston market where you are but they have catering brought to your home. Good luck!

The food isn't an issue. We do brunch and my mom mostly cooks all of it. The cleaning is killer though. If my brother's kids weren't so young, I probably wouldn't worry so much.
