What charity would you choose?.

I will donate it to the blind. Million dollars still can make an inpact on the blind.

An organization that serves single parents in numerous ways including scholarships for continuing education.

My current concern is acid attacks in India. A bunch of Plastic Surgeons spend weeks there treating patients who've had acid thrown in their face.
I'd work to ban acid without some sort of Licence and more criminal penalties. I guess I'm going to need 100 million to start!

Yes. Some of the victims are blinded as well.

The Dysreductia Association.

Helping people with disorganising bad/fluid memory (access due to anxiety) and emotional states (to find largely preventative treatment and acceptance). Those with dementia praecox, manic-depression, DID and generally difficulty finding expression of their emotions and intuitions.

Helping people with hyporeductia: great difficulties generalising and associating form with emotion (other than largely meaningless anxiety).

Helping society to understand, facilitate and make use of individual differences between people.

Edit:
I like how DA is AD reversed: no use for antidepressants or (other) anxiolytics.

Maybe Random Acts. Or a charity that helps people with mental illnesses.

Random Acts is a charity that allows people to do random acts of kindness for other people. So if you had a great idea in mind to help someone, I believe you could receive money from them to help make it happen. I like how they try to bring some happiness to people, ya know?

I would also support cancer research and preventative treatment, via the DA.

I very much hope cytotoxicity can be better managed in time, so that our bodies get less toxic (more than achieved now with meds) and those with high risk of cancer more toxic (it would be great preventative care: no arbitrary killing of cells to the extreme only if it is almost or already too late).

No more meds that could result in cancer by (other) meds supporting a localised toxicity fitted to the action of other needed meds.

In other words, those at risk should be receiving extremely mild, prophylactic chemotherapy, much like we naturally receive (but maybe less so).

I like the Make a Wish Foundation.

I also really like the Ronald McDonald House, which supports the families of sick children. For example, if a child is very sick and needs to stay at the children's hospital, but they live far away, then they provide a place for the child's family to stay so they can be close to the hospital.

But I would first invest it in my own company, so as to invest, say, 10 times the amount and to support the research.

I'd split it up among two or three charities. If I had to donate it as a lump sum, I think I'd donate it to St. Jude's Hospital for Children.

Lately I've been sending checks to St. Jude, so I would throw some there. Also to my religious organization since it has changed my life, and of course some to BP research, but don't have a specific organization in mind right now.
Thanks for this!

Interesting: which religious organisation?

("Hello,... hello... anybody there?")

Seriously, much interested. I (too) think religion can be very healing and grounding (as practical philosophy).

A million dollars isn't much I'm afraid. I guess I'd donate to underprivileged/at risk youths youths in my area. I think we could change the lives of many kids if the money was used wisely. This would brighten their today, as well as provide hope and support for their future. This would not only impact the lives of these kids, but also their family, friends and the community. They could then be role models and success stories and contribute in various ways they may not otherwise have. I think the million dollars could be used to launch the project, and it could eventually be self sustaining through contributions and volunteer participation.
Thanks for this!

To a local domestic abuse center that changed my life. They have temporary housing, groups, individual help, for anyone, without discrimination of gender, religion, culture or disability.
