No, I haven't told anyone.

I don't think I'd continue to post if anyone knew, especially if they knew my username. Only exception would maybe be my pdoc.

I told my pdoc that I found the site--nothing more. I told my adult children I found a psych forum and nothing more. No one knows my username and its different than any other ones I use.

I told my T (whom I haven't seen for about a year-ish) about the site, but not my SN. No one else knows, including my husband. I want a safe place to say anything that's on my mind without having to censor it in case it might hurt someone's feelings or worry them unnecessarily, or whatever. I just need to have one place where I can be absolutely honest about myself and my experiences.

My therapist knows that I post on PC, and a handful of people know that I visit an online support group, but that is the extent of it. No one knows my screenname, nor do they need to know.

I know a couple of people that I've "met" here----one purely digitally but the other lived closer so we got together for smoothies and are friends now. They know my screen name and then my T knows I post here but not my name.

My best friend knows that I post to this group. She is actually a therapist (not my T of course) and recommends articles from the site. I recently saw a post on her page directing people to take the bp quiz and seek professional help based on results. She does not know my username. If she was ever a visitor on a day that I happened to be posting, she could probably figure out who I was.

I told one of my brothers, my pdoc and case manager that I posted to an online group. Didn't tell them which one. When I told my T, she asked me which one. I'm sure it's in her notes somewhere. Periodically I will mention a post that I have made or something but we don't discuss the site. I don't think she really cares as long as it is in my toolbox of positive coping strategies.

Just my husband. He doesn't care to snoop, though.

Only my therapist. She was all concerned about my isolation, so I told her I joined an online forum. She was relieved; and the conversation stopped there. I rather like the anonymity afforded by this forum, where you can learn from other's experience, and feel a measure of relief and contentment to know you are not alone, and others struggle just as hard, and often succeed.
