Is it possible to feel happy on an mood stabilizer? I’m on Zyprexa (Olanzapine) alone without an antidepressant. I do not like being on medication or how they make me feel. Plus I have gained 15 pounds in less than 3 weeks. Is there any hope? Right now things feel daunting and hopeless.

I'd say sure it's possible. My stabilizer helped me out tons... At first (trileptal). I hate to be negative, but Zyprexa is one out of a short list that I'd never try because of the weight gain and withdraw when you come off it. But I'm sure you could try and help it with healthy eating habbits and working out and a taper when you do quit it. But weight gain is a side effect I cannot cope with after years of eating disorders. But some people rather deal with it if the med is helping. There's a few side effects out there that are deal breakers for me. But if you're doing fine on it then that's great! The fewer meds the better in my eyes.

Latuda might help. It is approved to treat bipolar depression.
