I'm at a very low point right now. I've never been to ip or anything like it. Where do you go? The emergency room? And can you sign yourself in or do you need a doctor recommendation?

If you feel you are in danger of hurting yourself or others, then yes, IP is a must. And if you're desperate, the ER should be able to help.

The way you go IP is by going to the ER and telling them that you are having a mental health crisis. You do not need a doctor recommendation to be admitted to the ER. You'll most likely have to wait for a couple of hours (or longer) but a doctor will eventually see you and ask you some basic questions about the problems you're experiencing and depending on how many beds are available they will move you up to the actual psychiatric unit.
It's important to be cooperative once they've taken you back into the ER because they may kick you out if you cause issues for the staff (or... at least that's what happened to me once).

I've found i could light myself on fire in the ER and they wouldn't admit me. No matter, hospitals are boring anyways.
