I read a post on here where someone asked me why I take buspar and ativan? I'm asking myself the same question. And out of all i've read, I feel like the only person who hasn't had bad side effects from buspar. I take 15mg am and 30pm. I ask myself though, is it even working? I've heard plenty of pdocs call it a useless med actually. And I don't want to take anything that's useless and just dumping more chemicals into my body. My AP and stabilizer is a staple. That's for sure. But I kind of want to start weening off the buspar because I want to switch to a better PRN than ativan. Yes i only take it as needed but honestly, 1mg doesn't touch me anymore.

So I guess my question is, what are your takes on buspar? Am I to expect anything coming off it?

I think my "help" is all in my head. I rather depend on a better PRN for when I'm having anxiety only. And now that I'm not working, I don't have anxiety as much. I just don't think my pdoc will give me a better PRN while still on buspar

I took Buspar and ended up having an episode anyway. ( but other than opioids that's all I was on at the time.

Well I'm taking it for anxiety. So it's never prevented episodes. But I still have mild panic attacks so I'm starting to think its a waste.

Anyone have any withdrawal from buspar?

Wasn't helping me, so I just stopped taking it. Didn't have any withdrawal.

I take buspar, and it definitely helps! Before I started it I was taking 4-6mg of klonopin every single day, and now I only take 1mg at night to sleep, and sometimes 1mg PRN during the day.

I take propranolol it helps more than any benzo did and buspar caused more anxiety not less.

Yea it's done nothing for me so I told pdoc I stopped it. I read it's supposed to help with rapid heartbeat but everytime it kicks in my heart would race more. No more of that for me

I've taken Klonopin daily since 1987. I know it still works because I have bad anxiety attacks if I forget to take it. I just started taking Buspar (plus the Klonopin) 3 weeks ago. I noticed a decrease in my social anxiety but nothing else yet. Maybe it takes longer to start working.
