I totally had thought of this too in the past. I think I will check this out again. I passed on it earlier because I was in school and trying to learn that on top of all of my classes was a bit much at the time. But now...I have more freedom!!

I've lived alone off and on for 35 years. I am living with my bf, and we've been together for 6 years. For me, a record! I've been married several times, and just could not live with someone.
BF and I are good together. He is a nurturer, and in some ways, I think that I am good for him

I live alone and enjoy it, i still see people a good bit. I do get lonely at times, but i focus better on what needs done when i'm alone. I have had off and on success with room mates. It really depends on their personality, someone that pushes back and isn't too sensitive is better for me. I end up being too much for the passive types. Greatas friends bad as roomates.

I love living alone. The tv is usually on but more for background noise. I'm either on the computer or reading. I need to get out more too. Spend most of my time in pjs since I don't have to be anywhere. Don't answer the door or the phone if I don't feel like dealing with people...did I say I love being alone? Have joined a club and go play mahjong on Fridays now. That's really enough social activity for me.

I had a good roomie in the 80's gay like me but not lovers. He died of AIDS in 1992. Then I lived with my mom and cared for her with Alzheimer's 1994-98. I had tough times and 2 times homeless 1998-2005. Then 2005-12 I had what I thought was a great roomie till he stabbed me in Nov. 2012. I was forced to live with my Aunt and 3 homophobic male cousins for 16 months. I was so elated I got this government assisted apt. alone in April 2014 and ecstatic to live alone. But within 6 months all that newness wore off and I HATE living alone. I tragically lost my little dog last Sept. and am just afraid of getting another one. But I miss being able to talk to people. But I also do not miss others bad habits or then harping on mine. I just have many days I have such a hard time getting out of bed, no one to speak with, no animal to love. Don't say get another pet, the rules in this building are strict and I almost lost the last dog cause of someone lying about me leaving her poop out in the grass, also she was old and quiet and if I got a younger healthier dog that barked too much they would tell me get rid of it. I am not allowed to have a roomie in my current place Housing Authority rules. And getting another cheap place only having SSI would be a huge challenge the wait list is closed. And I feel like I might die living all alone in this place.

I live with my husband and four year daughter. God, I never get any time alone! I can't even take a **** in private. We have two cats too, and while one is big and cuddly and a sweetie and quiet, the other one never shuts up! All night long MEOW MEOW MEEEEEOWWWW!!!!!

Honestly! I never get a moment of peace and quiet!

Here are the things I would do if I had time to myself and lived alone:

Take a **** in private.
Read all afternoon and listen to relaxing music.
WRITE, BECAUSE I'D ACTUALLY HAVE ****ING TIME!!!
Nap.
Go to the park.
Go to the library.
Lay on the carpet, stare up at the ceiling and enjoy the quiet.
Make stir fry for dinner.
Turn music on and have a dance party in the living room at three in the morning.
Keep the cupboard doors closed because my husband opens them but never shuts them!
****ing bleach clean the bathroom and kitchen because I can't do that now because I don't want our daughter to inhale toxic fumes.
Sit outside in the sun and relax.
GET SOME ****ING SLEEP!!!

Oh, wanted to add, this really isn't all bad, lol. Yesterday my husband and daughter went to the grocery store together so I could have sometime by myself to lay on the floor and stare up at the ceiling in (mostly) peace, and they were gone longer than I thought they would be and I started pacing around and getting lonely! They got home eventually and I was all like, I MISSED YOU GUYS!

(Oh, and in the background, MEOW MEEOW! From the cat that never shuts up!)

Your post cracks me up. I can totally relate. My 10 yo still will stand outside the bathroom door. And he currently will not stop talking!!

I'm always around either him or my coworkers 24/7. People are always like "come hang out with me next time you don't have your son." Uh no. I want to be by myself.

Then I do everything you listed. My son stayed with a relative for two days recently. I read for 2 days. Didn't even turn the TV on. Of course I missed him though. It was almost too quiet.

Haha.

It's like they drive you nuts, yet you really miss them when they're not there, and it really is too quiet.

Happy someone can relate.
