I read Deisseroth's papers all the time but I didn't usually think of him as interested in bipolar. Weird that they featured him so much.

I found it a bit frightening. The overall message was fine. Saying its a whole body thing, medicine, therapy, diet, exercise and sleep schedules. But some of the extreme measures...ahh. The damage to our children if we're not in treatment and stable is something I've always feared since my daughter is also bipolar. A bit unrealistic too since obtaining the ideal services is quite difficult.

I stopped watching at the point where they were talking about drilling holes in people's skulls. Just...no. People put way too much trust in these people.

They didn't seem to have much help for mania, just doing research on that. Mostly the help was for the depression side of things, some of those treatments were scary but by and large it was academic.

I watched it with my husband and my mom watched it and I think it helped them understand me.
When the patients used phrases I commonly use it kind of made sense to them.
