I am finally going to see a new pdoc on May 2nd. I'm so thankful that she is a woman and that her online reviews are phenomenal. I can't wait!
On the other hand, she doesn't prescribe Clozaril so after all of that hassle, I will have to discontinue it. Wow! Someone please remind me that some day all of this will make since. ![]()

I am so excited for you!!!!!!!!!
Having to stop clozaril sucks but hopefully she'll have something that works better for you. Clozaril certainly hasn't made everything better for you so hopefully you'll get onto something without the side effects. May 2 is so soon!

BTW, you know how almost all who have read about my posts have had negative thoughts about my pdoc? Read the reviews at the site below (scroll to the bottom). It is uncanny! https://www.ratemds.com/doctor-ratin...sville-KY.html

Those are about the worst reviews I've ever seen on a dr. Wow. It sounds like there are the people unhappy about the overmedication and the people who didn't mind the addictive polypharmacy (and I'm sure plenty between those extremes). Those are some big accusations though. And most of PC could have written those just from knowing you.
I think that you're going to have to go into the new pdoc prepared for some potentially difficult times because she's got to get you onto reasonable meds. And since most drs. do that one med at a time it may take a little bit to get you evened out. But I think you'll have great outcomes in the end. Hopefully one of the APs you've not tried yet will be great for you without the extreme sedation/drooling/etc. You deserve this to work out.

Even if this new pdoc is an angel you should prepare for things to get worse before the get better. All the changes with meds might play havoc with your moods and over all health. So maybe prepare your husband by telling him not to expect instant improvement. It's a great step in the right direction though. Are you still in IOP? That might be very helpful as you deal with the changes.
Congratulations on the new pdoc!!! ![]()

SO glad your getting a new pdoc that hopefully will be able to help you more than your previous. Hugs, hugs & more hugs. I agree with nammu above, I can appreciate how stressful it must all be for your SO but really your safety & health is paramount!

Why would a doctor blanketly refuse to prescribe a drug? Just too many bad experiences with it?

I wondered that too. Perhaps because there is so much paperwork with the Clozapine registry requirements? ![]() I knew a pdoc who said she does not bother with preauthorizations for her clients because they took so much time; I didn't care for her much.

Yeah, clozaril is a pain in the butt for drs. I think it helps when there is a big practice; I know my dr. covers other clozaril blood draws sometimes. But just getting the lab at my hospital to accurately send the results to my pdoc has been an adventure and I know that dealing with my labs takes about 5-10 minutes per week.
They also just re-vamped how they do it a few months ago and that may have increased the drs. not in the registry.
