I take it at night before bed, and wake up with a monster headache every morning.
Anyone else?
Any suggestions?

I don't have personal experience with Depakote, but I know it can be dehydrating. Dehydration can cause headaches - are you getting enough water?

Lots and lots of water. It is a habit that I've had for years.

I used to get bad headaches (migraines I know now) when I was on depakote. My pdoc didn't think they were related b/c depakote treats migraines (I think I remember this right although nobody has ever offered me depakote for migraines and that's weird) but I would get them when my level was too high. Which happened easily b/c I had difficulty maintaining a high enough level and then would drift into "too high" and back a lot.

This was the worse med ever for me. I had so many side effects I don't remember if headaches were a problem too. But yeah..water!

Personally depakote works good on me, but med can have different effect for different person. As far as I know headache is one of depakote's side effects. You might need to discuss this with your Pdoc.

Only thing I remember about taking it was severe nausea.
Then had to wean down & still be so nauseated on a med I knew wasn't going to work.
Never again.

Depacote has almost completely stopped my headaches and migraines. However, I tried Lithium before Depacote. After a severe migraine for 4 straight days on Lithium, I stopped it because I seriously thought I was about to have a stroke.

Amazing how meds affect everyone differently.
