I'm a huge believer in music being a source of healing and comfort when going through difficult times. I'm always looking for new music to add to my rotation, especially when I'm manic and feeling like I just need something to relate to. I wondered if any of you have any songs / artists you listen to or enjoy that help you feel better or relate to your BP.

A few I enjoy are:

'Manic' by Plumb
'Manic Depression' by Jimi Hendrix
'Down In It' by Nine Inch Nails
'Depression' by Black Flag
'institutionalized' by Suicidal Tendancies
'Bleed Like Me' by Garbage
'Girl Anachronism' by The Dresden Dolls
'The Poet and the Pendulum' by Nightwish
'Sleep' by The Smiths

I'm also a huge fan of Emilie Autumn, who suffers from BP. Many of her songs deal with her struggles with BP, particularly an album she dedicated to it titled 'Opheliac'

Demi Lovato has BP, and some of her songs, particularly "Skyscraper" and "Warrior", have helped me a lot. And Sara Bareilles has a song called "Hercules" which is about depression. Sara is my favourite artist, so I love everything she has ever released, but that one has been an inspiration to me during difficult times. "Chasing the Sun" is another one.

But based on the songs you have listed, I think we might have very different musical preferences.

PS: Trivelig å se andre medlemmer fra Skandinavia!

A song that's always hinted at BP or MI of some sort to me is The Offspring's "Dammit, I Changed Again."

And a song that swings the other way is Metallica's "Fade to Black." Depending on how I react to it is often a sign as to whether or not I'm slipping into depression.

Fade to black is a great song, probably my favorite Metallica song ever. I know what you mean about seeing signs of an upcoming depression when you listen to certain songs. For me that song is 'Asleep' by the Smiths.

Not sure if it's supposed to be "about" bipolar, but I like "Lithium" by Nirvana.

Since the first time I heard this song in 2008, years before I was actually diagnosed with bipolar disorder, I have related to this song (I have most likely been bipolar since I was a child, but only diagnosed four years ago at 23). The lyrics really speak to me.
