So I maybe moving from Northern Wisconsin to Southern California. The culture shock is going to be grand.... My problem is that I believe one of my meds is causing me to be sensitive to sunlight. It was worse in the winter with the reflections off the snow, which obviously won't be a problem, but, I'm worried about the part where I become hypo if I stay in the light too long. I have to take "dark breaks" to let my brain settle back down. Has anyone every experienced this? I'm listing my meds in case that might have a bearing on it too.

lithium, saphris, abilify, bupropion, propranolol, guanfacine, lunesta, rozarem, ondansetron, protonix, and multivitamin

Yes but for me I don't think it's the Meds. I was just telling my therapist I don't get enough sleep in the summer because as soon as the sun rises I am up with it and in the winter I might as well be a hibernating bear. I am sensitive to the sun to sounds ( can't stand tv) to bright colors strong smells and it seems to get worse as I age. I am only bipolar 2 though.

I know someone from my bipolar support group who ends up in the hospital every summer for a manic episode.
Thanks for this!

I am really sun sensitive, but I don't think that it is the meds. I have very blonde hair and pale skin. I burn easily, and too long in the sun and I am dizzy, dehydrated and throwing up.
And I have a great collection of funky sun hats

I am not on any of the meds that you listed but I do believe that my meds
have made me more sensitive to the heat which really stinks because I love
the sun and the warm weather.

I don't know that my meds give me sensitivity to the sun, but I hate the sun.. even when I'm not depressed.

With my red hair I have always been careful with sun. I live at the beach and my rule is sun before 10am and after 4 pm. I cant be out there, meds or not. Sounds like a fantastic change for you enjoy

Largactil (Chlorpromazine) was the only med that made my skin sensitive to the sun. It was so bad I stopped the med. With my current meds I don't have any problems.
