Does anyone use Latuda? I just switched to Latuda. I had used Geodon for many years and it really worked but I was losing chunks of hair so I asked my doctor if we can could try something else.

Does it cause weight gain? Does it help with anxiety? I have been dealing with a lot of anxiety and this first week on Latuda I didn't experience anxiety at all!!

Just wondering how it's worked for you.

Latuda worked really well for me for about a year, and then it wasn't working as well, but I couldn't up my dose because when I did I had horrible side effects, so I ended up going off it.

I don't think it really helped with my anxiety, but it really helped with my sleep! It's also supposed to be weight neutral, and I found that to be true.

I'm on latuda, and baring extremely stressful events it does well for mood. it has caused some restlessness though, hence the benztropine I'm also on.

Latuda works great for me for depression. I still get it, but it doesn't last as long. I haven't found it helps with anxiety much but it definitely helps with sleep.

Just throwing it out there that when I first started taking it, it made me hypo for a couple weeks and then super irritable for a week. After a month on it things calmed down though.

I have not gained weight on it.

I hate it, but you might like it.

It's pretty useless for my depression (it's helped shorten the duration, but worsened the severity... go figure), and it makes me sleep for ages. I haven't been on it long enough to say if it actually prevents hypo/mania for me, but I know there's not enough research evidence to conclude if it's effective at preventing hypo/mania. That's why Latuda is only marked for bipolar depression, not for bipolar hypo/mania. (For some people, however, it actually does prevent hypo/mania.)

All I know is, I got depressed on it 3 times and it makes me really irritable. I want off it. In fact, I haven't taken it for 3 days now and I already feel a million times better. I would've told my pdoc about it, except he's on vacation... so he'll find out on Tuesday I guess.

I just thought I would give my opinion, since most people seem to have positive responses to it.

I'll say that Latuda is one of the more successful meds I've been on. It has eased severe anxiety and severe depression. Definitely weight neutral. I do have a bad tremor from it.

Latuda has been very successful med for me...unfortunately I'm one of the small percentage that gain weight on it. But the advantage outweighs the disadvantage at this point so I'm staying on it.

I'm dx with bipolar 1 with psychosis.my Dr has tried the usual drugs, almost all antipsychtic ( I have been on geodon for 16 years and it just doesn't do anything anymore.I get terrible side effects with all the reg. Antipsychtic drugs.ambilfy. has been the most recent and that really messed me up.I also have high anxiety which I take Valium for but I do not sleep I'm lucky if I get 2 hours of sleep at night.. I
think he's gonna try latuda.next but from what I read and hear its mostly for depression and I'm very rarely depresseed.just manic I can go weeks with just 2 hours of sleep a nite. I don't think my dr. Knows what to do with me.he's very young and doesn't even remember what drugs he's tried on me. I'm in a rural area so not to many dr.s around any suggestions in what I can ask him to put me on.he is usually very good if I come up with something that he hasn't thought of (it was my idea on the ambilfy )I've lost relationships with my family. My husband isn't constantly on my case.which sends me into overdrive I'm just at a loss

Have you tried Risperidone? I got off due to weight gain and stomach distress, but I would go back on if nothing else works because it really did remove all my paranoia. Well, almost all. I have some stuff that lingers which a doctor thought might be PTSD symptoms. We are trying to get my hypomania under control, thrn we'll discuss the PTSD. I'm currently switching back to latuda from Risperidone. I'm still taking Risperidone while I increase my latuda to max dose. I've taken latuda in the past with decent results and minimal side effects compared to others. Weight gain was minimal and controllable. I gained 15 lbs in 2 months on Risperidone. Not the best, but not terrible.

I wasn't sleeping at all, for days when they gave me Risperidone and either I finally slept (for about 4 hours) or the pill worked reasonably fast for me. They gave me ambien, Ativan and seroquel the night before and nothing helped until Risperidone.

Latuda has really helped with my depression. I didn't gain weight on it. I've been on it a few months. I do feel kind of numb, and I think it's the Latuda causing that. I don't like the numb feeling. But I'm glad the depression is gone.

Pretty much the same here. It seemed to poop out after a year.
It didn't help with anxiety, other than to make me more rational so I didn't freak out about random things as much. But for general anxiety, no didn't really help. It's great for keeping me in reality. Pretty weight neutral. Makes me totally lazy/unmotivated though, and didn't work great for depression- not like an AD or anything.

Latuda is my favorite antipsychotic EVER! It helps my anxiety SO much and I've been able to successfully lose 60 lbs. on Weight Watchers while taking it. I'm currently fighting with my insurance to cover it (thankfully my pdoc can give me samples in the meantime). I've been taking it a couple years and I never want to switch off of it.

I couldn't stay on it, although it did seem to begin to lift my depression after a few days...the nausea side effect I couldn't deal with and it would show up hours later, just when I thought it was safe to take my other night medications. So I was ending up not only unable to keep the latuda down, it was causing me to lose my other meds too through vomiting.

How long did you stay on it? I was super nauseous for a week or two but then it went away.

I think it was about 3 weeks or so...if it hadn't been for the other meds I would have tried to stick it out, but I couldn't afford to not have the other meds on board.
