I'm taking 600mg. Seroquel and 100mg Topamax. Can't do anything but lay on the couch. Can't clean the house, paint, no creativity, can't even read, feel sick to my stomach, can't eat, food tastes weird, no more mania. yes I'm stable but at what cost. Going to new pdoc thurs. Thinking of taking 450 mg seroquel and 75 topamax tonite. I can't go on another day like this. Haven't even felt good enough to get on here.

That does seem like a high dose, even for me. I can believe you're laying around. Honestly I would cut it myself if it did that to me all day, although Seroquel still causes a hangover no matter what dosage (for me). But 600...wow.

Sounds like me when I was on lithium. I hope they can give you a med adjustment and you begin feeling more like yourself soon. (((Hugs)))

You shouldn't feel overmedicated when you're stabile, in my opinion that defeats the purpose. I would discuss with your pdoc about how your meds are affecting you. Take care

If you're not feeling on the manic side of things - for sure, discuss with your new pdoc your options of tapering the dose as 600mg for 'maintenance' is pretty high and is probably contributing to your zombie like state.
Hope you manage to find a balance. |

I take the same amount for Seroquel, 600mg. My Pdoc a few years ago suggested I should take the medication at bedtime so I could function during the hours that I am awake. And it works! I suggest that you talk to your Pdoc about taking it before you sleep every night.

I agree 450 mg sounds reasonable. It's less effective proportionately/relatively after 300–400 mg.
Your body doesn't compensate (via gene expression, regulation of receptors and via autoreceptors) to the same extent for blockage of (different) brain transmission/receptors. So it could be that after say, 400 mg, any increase only makes you more tired but doesn't help you any other way. Taking too little may have a similar effect, but for a different reason, mainly. The therapeutic range is 300–400. 600 mg may work, but the 200 mg difference is not similar to the 100 mg difference: the difference in effects of the 100 mg therapeutic range is greatest. If you need anything above 400 mg to function, you might add a typical antipsychotic. It'll make you less tired and is likely even better than squeezing the last bit of efficacy out of quetiapine, causing an imbalance.
