I quit smoking 2 weeks ago and my body is breaking down, but I feel ok mentally. I'm using the patch and gum to quit and haven't really had any cravings, except for being a bit stressed out a couple times. I'm rewarding myself every week i'm smoke free. Last week I went and got a hair cut. This week I'm either going to buy bleach for my hair or get my nails done, not quite sure yet. I have watched so many freaking Placebo concerts. They keep me calm and I really relate to the music since the lead singer is bipolar as well.
As far as my body breaking down, my back has been hurting and now my feet hurt as well. I'm trying to get into see a podiatrist but my GP office is useless. As soon as I get the referral I'm changing my GP with my insurance. I found a different practice out in the country near my house that can probably see me in less than 2 weeks. That's the current time to see a dr at my GPs office which is a bunch of BS. Other than that I've found a disability support chat for people with physical disabilities and that's been helpful. Not that the people here aren't helpful, it's just nice to talk to people with some of the same physical disabilities as you. |

Congrats. I have been quit 16 months and it is the single most important act in my recent life. I just recently signed a lease for an apartment in a community where there is no smoking allowed anywhere. I mean, if you are a smoker you would have to go out of the community and across the street for one smoke, and I can't imagine doing that in the middle of the winter. I just felt BLESSED when I went to sign this lease, knowing I didn't have to even think about the whole smoking thing. Keep going. Join a quit smoking forum. It really helps. A good one is called Quit Smoking Message Board. A lot of forums don't like it when people use a nicotine patch or gum...but ignore people who say that. I used the patch and gum for the first four months and it was extremely helpful. Since quitting smoking I have also quit drinking, and am into working out. I didn't gain any weight. Keep going and you will feel so proud and keep giving yourself rewards. I gave myself rewards every month for the first year. After that just not smoking was the sweetest reward!
