Can anyone tell me how the effects of Zyprexa, similarities and differences, would compare to Depacote. My pdoc says my next visit he's possibly going to slowly add in Zyprexa and gradually wing me off the Depacote.
I'm hesitate for change as my lows haven't bottomed out quite so severely in a while, but I do still do see saw a lot. Besides, I thought all of this therapy and meds were to help me. The only thing thus far to me is I have remained breathing, but nothing else has changed, so I'm not sure if still breathing is a positive or not. No one on this earth seems to care, and the very last friend I had abandoned me seven months ago. Can a person battle major depression all the while battling bipolar at the same time? I'm beginning to think my doctors either don't have a clue, don't care, or both. |

I can't compare the two, as I've only taken Zyprexa and not Depakote. But I know that Zyprexa gets me off the moon quickly when I'm manic, prevents me from crashing too hard, and keeps me pretty level overall.

Depokote made me feel empty inside. I really liked zyprexa but I gained to much weight and was still psychotic on it.

Everyone here says Zyprexa caused weight gain which I don't need because Depacote has already caused a significant gain in my weight. I think my t put in my notes to pdoc about med change, and she has said that Zyprexa is more weight neutral than Depacote. Who knows. We're all just human lab rats

Zyprexa has been by far the most effective mood stabilizer I've been on. Yes, weight gain is a side effect, but at least this time around, I'm saying the trade off is worth it.
Depakote was just alright or me. Didn't not work, just didn't work all that well...plus it gave me a horrible tremor, so I stopped it. |
