It's been awhile since I've been on the board. I'm still a medical experiment. LOL I've been on a couple of more drugs since I've been here and none of them have worked, and in fact, had my first mini manic episode in a year about a month ago due to Buspar. Sigh. Needless to say, I was yanked off of that one.

I've actually felt pretty well depression wise, but the anxiety has been kicking my ***. As you know I also have panic disorder and obsessive thoughts along with the BP. That is where the Buspar came in, to try to help and was supposedly low risk for inducing mania. Uh huh.

Anyway, my Pdoc told me about another patient of hers (not BP, but has major OCD/Intrusive thoughts). They had tried everything to help her. She is a school teacher and her intrusive thoughts were so bad that she hadn't been able to work in a couple of years. My Pdoc had tried every med under the sun to help her. Then, my Pdoc went to a conference and there was a study done on an Alzheimer's med that they found helped with severe OCD. She put this lady on it and she is doing great and went back to work. My doctor said that she is the only one that she has tried this on and asked if I wanted to try it. I said, yes! Well, I've been on it now about 2 weeks. So far, so good. That's a big deal for me, because I have such strong reactions to medications. The only physical side effect I'm having, is fatigue and feeling tired all the time. However, it's helped me cut down on my Benadryl that I take with my other sleep meds.

My anxiety and OCD hasn't been as bad but it's almost like I can't remember what I was thinking or worrying about. It's hazy. Of course, I don't know if that is good either. You would think an Alzheimer's med would help you remember stuff, not for me. Maybe it does the opposite affect for people who don't have Alzheimer's. Who knows. I'm trying to not be too hopeful, because I've been let down so many times on this journey.

I'm about to scroll through all the posts and see what all you great people have been up to! Hugs!

And I discovered that my castles stand

Glad you are having a fairly positive drug experience! Waiting for one of those is so hard.

Thanks BeyondtheRainbow! I hope the Clozaril is helping you. Sorry about all the medical bills. As long as they get $10 a month, most are happy with that and don't send to collection agencies. Maybe try that! Hugs

My hospital doesn't do that anymore. They work with you to get as many benefits as possible and they have programs to help that I'm not eligible for (one I make too much and the other my bill isn't high enough) but I'm in this middle ground where they will even admit that it's a lot of money but not have answers. Fortunately I was approved for Medicaid for all expenses after my 4th day IP until the end of the month so that will cut my bill and reduce my payment once it goes through. I need to start pushing to make sure that happens.

But thanks for the idea. I wish it were still that way. I think that used to be a law and at least my state ended it several years ago. For a long time my hospital was still ok if you were making reasonable payments but in the last year it got more strict.

The good thing is that the woman kept talking about these two charges that added up to $500 and those weren't on the itemized statement she sent so that worry is gone.

That's too bad that they don't do that anymore!
