I've become a little obsessed with cleaning my house these days. And that can most likely be due to the fact that when I am depressed, I don't pay attention to things that need to be cleaned. Now, the last time I was hypo I went on this cleaning crusade where I went overboard with my cleaning and buying more than I could need to do for the whole weekend. I was so obsessed that I was even cleaning the vents and scrubbing the doors. I don't think I'm to that extent, but I am a little curious...
I guess the main difference is that I'm simply cleaning up after myself from so much neglect versus just waking up with tons of energy wanting to do everything all at once. I swore when I was hypo that I could clean the entire house in one weekend, and finish projects around the house that need to be done. This time I am trying to take it piece by piece, but I'm slowly wanting to do more and more as I go on. I'm on my second load of laundry, and as soon as I sign off work I plan to wash the dishes and vacuum. My sleep has been normal. And definitely don't have tons of energy, I guess more motivation to do it all...?
Would you be concerned?

No, I would not be concerned. It sounds like you have a good sense of what your hypo looks/feels like. It is a sad state of affairs when we finally feel good enough to function well we wonder if we are really sick.

It's never a bad idea to keep an eye on things, but I wouldn't worry if my symptoms were like yours. My husband would watch me like a hawk though, just to make sure I don't tip the scales into mania. Be watchful but enjoy. A clean, organized house feels so good! Not that I would know, my house hasn't been thoroughly cleaned in a year. Come to think of it, when you're done with yours, come over and help with mine . On a serious note, good luck and keep us posted on how things are going for you. ((Hugs))

It's been so long since I've been stabile, I guess I forgot what it's like to be able to do things just because they have to be done.

I agree it is sad that we have to be so vigilant about any symptoms that may be presenting themselves. That just having a lot of fun or doing a lot of cleaning could be hypo. Which isn't to say you're not hypo though -at least for the moment, who knows what will follow- though I think sleeping alright and having normal energy are good indications that you're doing alright.

Right now I'm depressed and am letting the dishes pile up in the sink, etc. My hope is that when/whenever this is over, I'll get to straightening up and cleaning things and hopefully it won't be because I'm losing it.

Sounds pretty normal. I was on a cleaning kick yesterday. Vacuumed, scrubbed counters, sweeper and mopped kitchen and cleaned out litter boxes. My son helped some. I'm just feeling better and want company over. For me, if I was hypo, I would have done my bedroom all the bedding, all the laundry etc. I would have gotten the whole house clean. I wish I was hypo....But that's just me. I would have been up all night and maybe slept 5 hours.

I think you're ok.

Well I ended up washing dishes, wiping down the counters, taking out the trash, and I can now see my bedroom floor
But I'm done...and exhausted.
Tomorrow: floors.

It sounds like you know your regular limits and some hypo triggers. So I wouldn't be concerned about that.

I find that I question this myself a lot too. In the spring I always get the urge to clean and purge and things so I know that some of it is normal but I have to watch it for manic tendencies because that is something I do when manic too.
