My fiancé knows that I'm bp2, and I've even said that I'm cycling at times. However, I am down/depressed...have been the past couple days...and all he says is "what's wrong", " did you have a bad day", or "are you in a bad mood". NO!!!! But now I'm irritable on top of everything else. Argh Sorry...rant over. I just want him to be more aware. He is much more aware of my GAD and PTSD. Just don't get it.

Hyperbole and a Half: Depression Part Two

This helped me after years of struggling to make my husband 'get it'. It's a serious challenge for people who have never truly experienced depression to understand how vastly different it is from feeling sad, grieving, or any of a number of other things they've felt that they try to use to figure out how you must feel.

Now, when my husband asks me how I'm doing, if I'm depressed, either he or I can just say, 'The fish are dead.' And he knows. It's been such a relief over the past. He still gets frustrated about not being able to help, but at least he has an inkling about the monster I'm/we're fighting.
Thanks for this!
