When I was 23ish, I acquired a game boy color. I started playing Pokemon red. It ended up being the only video game I ever finished. I loved it. My husband loved Pokemon too, he would play all the games on his DS.
Yeah, Pokemon was pretty cool.

Even though I loved it, I never really watched the TV show. Don't know why. I remember watching it *some*, but it wasn't my favorite TV show. IDK. I watched all the movies though. lol.

I owned Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. I beat all of them and got all 150 pokemon! I totally ruined my Pokemon Yellow game, though. I caught MissingNo... which apparently is a very, very bad thing.

I was so hardcore about Pokemon that I bought a Gameshark so that I could get a surfing Pikachu

Sounds like you and your husband were total Pokemon nerds!

Edit: I do know the lyrics to the Pokemon TV show theme song.

Any comic book nerds? Ones that are into reading the books (not just watching movies based on comics....though I enjoy those too.) I'm a huge comic nerd. Neil Gaimans The Sandman is my all time favorite. But also a fan of Red Sonja, Fables, Hellboy, Watchmen, Lady Death, Thor, Valkyrie...the list goes on.

I'm not a techy or intelligent type dork/nerd but I love sci-fi and fantasy. My family and I plan to start LARPING and some people might think that a dorky think to get into. I think it sounds like super fun, if I can find a way to work my health issues around it. Yeah, I'm probably a big dork now that I think about it. And I'm pretty cool with it too.

@Anxiousvalkyrie - My PhD is in Film & Media Studies, though my work has strayed pretty far from both...I focus mostly on theory, philosophy, and art/literary criticism (my background is in studio art so my work is more experimental/conceptual than that of my strictly academic colleagues). That's exciting you're going back to school!! Is there a way you could study both religion and archeology within the confines of either department?

I can apply to go for a double doctorate, I've debated that but I'm not sure I'd be able to handle the work load. I'd love to do both if possible, I just don't want to overwhelm myself.

I also do some Java, but it's only natural for me to do it, as the syntax for Java and C++ are very much alike. If you can do one, you can pretty much do the other if you take the time to learn the differences between the two languages. I think Java is pretty slow compared to C++, though, and I don't like that you can't use pointers.
Java keeps me (relatively) focused when manic. I like it. And it's quite healthy.

I do the same thing. I'll laugh so hard I'll start crying, and then I have to stop to catch my breath, lol. People just look at like "it wasn't that funny" , or they'll start laughing because I'm laughing so hard.

Dork is my name. Been to the cons, dressed as a science officer and an alien. Read comics back when they were .10 cents or a quarter for thicker issues....after they became graphic novels I couldn't afford them but borrowed from friends when I could. Bought my daughter gender free clothes and educational games. Played D&D despite my pdoc saying role games were bad for me. In college played Star Trek on a shared computer that was housed in its own building, no monitors just a teletype. ( not a geek or nerd cause I crashed the enterprise every time)

Oh right...played 3-D chess too

I'm only a dork in one respect and that is my interest in obscure words which i use in playing competitive Scrabble. I won the trophy for best player in my division last season. I love wowing my opponents with obscure words! They're great for drawing challenges.
