When you're hypo/manic, are you distracted or efficient when it comes to doing work? (And by work, I mean housework, schoolwork, yard work, job work... anything.)

I'm actually super distracted and NEVER get my work done. I feel like my ADHD is exacerbated by my mania. I just want to do EVERYTHING at once, and I can never decide what I want to do, so I start a bunch of projects, get distracted, and never finish them!

BUT when I took adderall and became manic, I was a beast. I got a ton of sh#t done. 100% focused and on top of my game, despite being agitated & paranoid.

Both simultaneously? Seriously I'm both. Much more efficient in some ways and distracted in others.

In the beginning of hypomania, I work quickly. I'm efficient and productive. It won't last though. Eventually, I become rather scattered and unfocused as I become more manic. Also, I won't finish what I start as mania gets worse.

Yup, it's the same way with me.

When hypomanic I can get hyper-focused and very productive but it doesn't last. Mostly I am erratic, jumping from one thing to the other, inefficient, distracted and a bit grandiose in my ideas and plans. The few times I have been manic I am totally distracted and inefficient. Nothing of real use gets achieved and my actions and behaviour affect everything as I am so obviously not quite 'right'. I haven't been manic for a few years (except in mixed episodes) but if it were to happen again I would not go to work or I might lose my job. Actually, in my bad mixed episodes I end up in hospital anyway to keep me safe. Can't function at all when like that and interacting with colleagues and customers would be disastrous.

I get extremely focused on the wrong things. But I get things done. When I'm depressed I do nothing.

I'm still productive but definitely disorganized and distracted. When it gets super bad, I straight up forget what I'm doing in the middle of it.
Thanks for this!

That's exactly what I experience as well.

I get hyper-focused on one thing and forget everything else. Then I just get irritable and impatient.

I seem to start out fine but then slowly slip away and can't regain my focus or concentration.

Well, let's see... Last time I was manic, I giggled and jumped in circles over and over again. I was up most of the night trying to play online but nothing interested me.
