There's a thread about the worst thing you did during a manic episode...

What about the BEST thing you did during a hypo/manic episode? Surely there's something awesome that's come of it.

haha. That's true.

But I also made a fool out of myself at work, got my boss to hate me, and went crazy.

I'm hiding out in the back of my closet until everyone in RL forgets about it. lol

Oh, and I said some nasty things because I was so enraged at the end, and scared my daughter by pacing around the apartment, screaming and hitting my head. Just horrible.

Probably when I was 10-11 and wrote the best book ever. I had this creative burst of energy and wrote a story with lots of sex because I thought every book had to have lots of sex in it. I'd say it was 90% sex and 10% story.

It was a pretty stupid story that made no sense, but when I showed it to my parents, they took my computer away. They said I wasn't allowed to use the computer anymore.

I was hoping my parents could give me feedback on the sex part because they had "experience". Well, I couldn't work on the story anymore because they took it away!!!

If you ignore the sex part, it was quite an awesome story at the time. But I guess it was f***ed up because all my characters were 11 year olds (my age) who had sex with each other. Like, one of the scenes was where 2 of the characters had sex on a train while the 3rd one was doing IDK what. (IDK if he was watching or what.)

I literally thought I was going to be a Pulitzer Prize winner. I had planned everything out... publisher, editor, you name it. I looked it up on the internet. Since Google wasn't popular yet, I used AltaVista.

I also printed out my story and was going to ask my English teacher for advice, but my parents took it away before I could do that.

I know this is going to sound horrible, but I would get 3-4 hours of sleep a night without feeling tired, and I would spend the time drawing "comics" for my book when my parents took it away. I also made a lot of inappropriate sex jokes to my parents and told them they didn't realize how amazing I was.
Thanks for this!

Bought an old '68 Ford pickup for a thousand dollars. Fixed it up for a couple days to get it running and my friend and I went on a road trip to LA. Smoked the whole way and made it through state border check with 2oz of marijuana in the glovebox. Explored beaches, nightclubs, and caught up with an old friend from highschool. No idea how the truck (or us) made it there and back in one piece.

Yeah they got even madder when they saw my comics cos I was depicting the sex and stuff.

They took away my comics, but I just redrew them

IDK about my parents, but I had loads of fun at the time. Redrawing my comics let me perfect my story

No, but seriously... It helped me become a better writer. Idk if that makes much sense, but I learnt how to piece stories together a little better. I also learnt that life isn't 100% about sex.

(I hope I'm not double posting bc my first one disappeared on me as far as I can tell):

I ran off to Spain and France where I had lived a long time ago previously, had sex with everyone I came across, didn't sleep, partied non-stop, extended my ticket various times. Came back, crashed into a depression, no job, no money.

When I came back and told a friend from France how I felt he said that, like Icarus, I had flown too high, my wings had gotten burnt and I fell back down to earth -something like that and I don't remember the myth exactly, but it did capture what happened and how I felt. This was before I had ever seen a pdoc or gotten dx'd.

I was accepted a job that involved learning computer programming. If i hadn't been hypomanic i never would have because i thought computers were beyond me. It worked out -- i did learn and have a short career and now i live on disability benefits from that job.

I've said some pretty d*** enlightened and powerful prayers that made me feel euphoric! I can't remember if the prayers were answered, though... I'm sure they were on some level.

I've also inspired others with my optimism and faith. If only I could have such faith ALL of the time...

Okay, I've been thinking about this, and not all of my experiences have been terrible.

Years ago, during what I'm now pretty sure was a hypomanic episode, I wrote an enormous book in two months, and it was one of the best, most beautiful and euphoric experiences of my life. Those two months everything had this hazy, golden glow to it, and this book was going to be the best I had ever written.

Crashed hard afterwards, but that book has a special place in my heart. One of the best time periods of my life (short as it was!).

When manic in 1998/99 I sold everything I owned and went backpacking round the USA. Canada, Great Britain, Switzerland and France. I was very unwell when I did it but now have so many amazing memories so I don't regret it one bit. Of course I came home to no money, no possessions, no car and nowhere to live but my parents which wasn't ideal. Unfortunately I had to come home early as I was assaulted in London and the PTSD on top of the bipolar crippled me.

I do most things while hypomanic. I'm fun for a while at parties when I am hypomanic. I work and work and work and work and work...
I come up with some amazing jokes.

I sent emails to Russia, Canada, USA, and a few other countries telling them how to end all the fighting. I got the email addresses from the CIA of all places.
