So, I cry almost every night (sometimes in the car too). This started a few months ago. It's a deep ache of sadness. I've never had this before. I've always had depression but not this. I really don't know what it is. Is it the same? Have any of you guys experienced what I'm talking about?

It's hard to know for sure, but yes, I believe I do know what you are referring to. i get deep sadness and tears at the drop of a hat. I'm sorry you are going through this. Have you talked to your doctor?

Yes, both my pdoc and therapist know about it. In fact my pdoc called me out of the blue last week (I see her once a month, and my therapist once a week). She was worried about me. Hell, I'm worried about me! I don't know what this is. It's really weird.

I'm glad you are keeping in touch with your doctors. I wish I had a cure, or even a name for what you are going through. All I got is sympathy. Please be kind to yourself during this time. I hope it passes quickly or you are able to get some help for it. (((Hugs)))

Have you had any significant events that could be causing sadness? I am pretty good at telling the difference between depression and grief for me. Like yesterday I felt depressed but I also felt like crying, which I don't do with depression. Then I remembered it was Father's Day and I was probably feeling sad about my father and my son's father not being able to be there.

Yes. I believe I have experienced what you're talking about.

Hugs, hashi.

It's good you can cry and let it out. I can't.

I don't think bipolar would cause it that deeply for that long. I do believe med imbalance can contribute to abnormal, heightened responses to be extended.

I think grief has a lot to do with it. My dad died about 20 years ago (when I was fairly young), and I've lost two brothers at young ages to heart attacks (2nd one late last year). I think a lot is about them dying and losing people who share memories and a childhood with you. It's almost like they disappeared and were never here to begin with. Then I question, why I'm here and they aren't. I've always been the depressed and suicidal one and they weren't.

I thought that too at first, but now it's like tears are always ready to drop at any given moment. I have to hide it from my husband otherwise he'll be worried.

I've thought about that too but I've been experimented on with so many drugs in the past year that I'm scared to try something new or discontinue another med.
