yesterday my pdoc told me I wasn't bipod and instead had PTSD and some sort of emotional dysreguation. It threw me. I don't base my identity on my diagnosis but knowing I was bipolar expained a lot and gave me some answers. He told me not to focus on the diagnosis but I cannot help dong it and now I feel lost. Either way I am staying on my current meds but he is adding a stimulant to help me concentrate. I was a mess after my appointment and he forgot to write up my leave for the weekend and won't answer the hospitals calls so i am stuck here for now. I am so angry and upset about that as I had plans for the weekend. Ironically my rage over this my make me si distressed they won't let me out anyway. So mad with my doctor right now.

I'm sorry this happened to you.

Labels mean a lot to me too, even though they're technically not important.

But, please don't get mad at your pdoc about the Dx. (I don't blame you for getting mad about him leaving you in the hospital though.) I think he was genuinely trying to help you. He probably wants to make sure you're getting the proper treatment; that's all.

In any event, I think it's important that you keep doing what you're doing. If your meds work and you like them because they keep you stable, then definitely continue with them. Don't let labels discourage you.

I hope you're able to figure out the cause of your emotional dysregulation. You mentioned that you have concentration issues, and that sort of makes me wonder about ADHD. ADHD mimics bipolar disorder in many ways, and there is emotional dysregulation involved. But, I'm not a doctor. I'm just trying to help give you some ideas that you can talk to your therapist/pdoc about... to come to a more definitive diagnosis.
Thanks for this!

So sorry you are stuck in the hospital. I hope you are able to continue on the same meds, and that the stimulant helps.

Thanks! The stimulant Modafinil has worked great but now I have a bad rash, possible SJS! So frustration as I can finally concentrate and feel awake. My mood has improved too just hours after taking a dose.

Yes, I may have ADHD. My doc is looking into it. Don't see him until Mondays so will chat with him about other options then. I get attached to my diagnosis too but as you said treatment of the symptoms is the key.

HUGS!! I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. I sent you a private message a few minutes ago, and now I just saw this post. Feel free to vent more to me if you like.

(((((((((Wander))))))))) Sorry to hear the dx change threw you (it'd throw me too!) and the stimulant trouble. And that you're stuck till Monday. But it does sound like maybe you're doing a bit better overall(?) Hope everything can get sorted out as soon as possible to get you feeling well again.

Thanks IZ. I am feeling much better but it is due to the new meds which may have caused this rash. I am hoping it is the Lamictal but I only increased the dose rather than started it today. It has done nothing for me over the last few weeks I have been on it. Frustrated I found something that works and may have to stop it.
