I have lost over 60 lbs in the past two years in spite of all my meds. Weight Watchers is the main way I did it.

It would be great if I could lose another 40 lbs or so, but I'm worried about getting really loose skin and having to get surgery to tighten it (no way I could afford the surgery, and from what I hear, insurance does not cover it).

Tbh, I feel good, pretty, sexy, and with good energy at my current size (218 lbs, 5'8", size 16). My health problems that might be improved by weight loss are acid reflux and sleep apnea (both currently okay with treatment).

I also know that bipolar meds are supposed to be more effective when you have less belly fat. Has anyone found this to be true?

What would you do? Keep trying to lose weight or just work to maintain?

Congrats, that's wonderful. I did WW to lose post-baby weight and it worked well for me.

My stepdad lost 100 lbs and has the issue with loose skin. It doesn't create health problems for him. It's a cosmetic issue but he doesn't seem to stress about it much. Unfortunately his insurance won't cover any procedures for it.

That's wonderful that you feel good on self-esteem and having energy! It sounds like you have your acid reflux and apnea under control. If your doctor doesn't think losing more weight is medically critical and you feel good, I'd maintain where you are right now. If you decide to lose more do it very slowly and that will minimize loosening skin.

"I also know that bipolar meds are supposed to be more effective when you have less belly fat. Has anyone found this to be true?"

I've not heard that before and I don't have any personal experience with it. It sounds kind of odd, but who knows?

I'm happy you are feeling well, good for you! I'm almost envious, as I got sucked in with food/weight as a coping mechanism and it turned on me. It started by dieting and then it took a life of its own when I was having an extremely hard time in my marriage and bipolar illness...and here I am 20 years later. Don't go that route - you sound great and feel great. Nothing can beat that!

You're awesome! xo

I'd never heard the thing about belly fat and medications, either -- I'm really abnormally sensitive to medications and have lots of belly fat, so I find myself doubting that it's true.

CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss -- I am your height and I'd love to weigh what you do!
