Finally I am being discharged from hospital HAPPY!! For the last 7 months I have been deeply depressed to the point of suicide at times. Nothing helped but my pdoc took a chance and put me on a stimulant called Modafinil and I immediately switched from depressed, agitated, irritable, inpatient and unable to concentrate to happy and calm (not hypomanic at all either). It is a miracle drug for me but too expensive so my pdoc is switching me to Ritalin in a few weeks. It feels so amazing to be cheerful, calm and able to concentrate. My doctor never gave up on me. I am so lucky to have him.

Modafnil/theupdated version of it gave me a lot of years of work. It was still working when other things fell apart.

I hope it gives you a lifetime of success.

I'm so glad to hear this. I know how badly you've been suffering and I'm so happy that you've found something that finally works.

Modafinil is a stimulant. Air Force pilots use it! Helps with concentration and depression. Very expensive though which is why I'm switching to Ritalin soon. Hope it works as good.

Yes I was suffering so much. It's been years since I've felt this good without being hypomanic. Cannot describe the relief I feel. Just hope it lasts a long time.

Huge congrats!! I went 16 years with horrid depression and suicidality before Adderall instantly turned things around. I've been thinking about trying Modafinil someday instead. Don't let people do their "blah blahs blahs" about stimulant medications. We don't have any intentions of abusing it, we just don't want to feel like dying every second of the day. Congrats!!

Hi! The Modafinil stopped working after about a week unfortunately. Don't know why. My concentration go worse and my mood dropped though not as far as depression. This was a big disappointment but my T said it is understandable that I crashed as I have been through so much.

Now I am on Ritalin 10mg in the morning and am noticing very little but it is a small dose which will be increased soon. Hoping for improvement. I started it on Thursday and today I felt my brain was working a little better and my mood is picking up slightly. I am still overwhelmed by all I have been through, like a PTSD reaction. I will increase my dose on Thursday and see how I go.

Thanks
