I grind my teeth and always have, so I don't think it's a side-effect of anything. I think you can get a mouth guard to wear at night. I tried one years ago but never could keep it in over night. I may try one again.

I agree is not a side effect. I did it for years while in high school. I guess the fact of being horny without sufficient sex made it worse. Or made me do it.
Even today, when I go to the dentist I'm accused of grinding teeth. That worn out they are.

I think it is. I have been doing it recently and asked the dentist about it. They said it can be a side effect of antidepressants. She asked me if my jaw was sore I said no and she left it as is. Problem it isn't during night it's during the day when I'm awake.

I clench my teeth but I dont think I grind them.
Clenching my teeth is something I do when I am really angry. I have always done it though so not a side effect.

I do it regardless of medication but welbutrin made it worse. I have a mouth guard but I take it out while asleep so it's rather useless. I do it if stressed, anxious or sleeping. Sorry I don't have any suggestions except a mouth guard.

APs can cause it too according to my dentist.
Apparently they make mouthguards now that just fit over the front teeth and aren't as bothersome. I'm not paying $300 for one though. (My dentist offered me a free one when they were new to him and I declined.Stupid). BP is about as hard on my teeth as it is my brain.

They sell kits at the store to make your own guard. You boil it, then bite down and it will custom fit to your teeth. Costs about $20.00 and works/fits well. Not for me, because I take it out when in a twilight sleep, but it really does work, gives a custom fit and is comfortable.

I don't think I ground my teeth, but when I was first misdiagnosed, GP put me on ADs. Lexipro and citalopram both gave me jaw clenching, and on a regular basis (not constantly, but frequently), my teeth would be misaligned(!) Like the top and the bottom wouldn't rest together in the usual way, which undoubtedly emanated from the jaw. It was weird and made eating hard. Is there a particular med you think might be the culprit?
As for what to do, I never figured it out. Went away after I stopped taking them. |

Prozac made me do it like crazy. I still do it now with Zoloft just nowhere near as bad. I can't stand the mouth guards from the chemist

I do this too. It isn't med related for me, at least I don't think it is. I've always done it. I think it's anxiety mostly. I do it whether asleep or awake. It has given me teeth and jaw problems. I cracked a molar and had to get a gold crown for it (not the kind that looks like a real tooth because I'll shatter it). I recently had the crown replaced because I'd worn a hole in it. The mouth guard I need is $800 and isn't covered by insurance. I've tried the over the counter ones, but they never fit right.
