I hate being so negative, but I'm depressed and I hate Friday nights. Friday nights are when everyone goes out and hangs out with their friends. Well, I don't live near my friends anymore -- they all live far away from me -- so I have no one to hang out with. I'm all by my lonesome self. Plus, I'm depressed, which is the icing on the cake.
Can anyone relate? I never really hang out with people anymore and I guess it makes Friday nights all the more depressing. What do you guys do on Friday nights? Ideas would be awesome ![]() |

I usually have no idea what day it is. I don't do anything special on Fridays. Years ago, it was my "drinkin day" but now it goes by without notice. I did shave my legs today which is rather exciting.
Ideas: Bake a 4th of July cake and bring it to a local retirement home Drive around asking strangers who are walking if they want a ride. Make friends with them. Watch "Shameless" on Netflix Go to the store and buy some new socks, come home and put them on (new socks feel so good) I'm bad at ideas, sorry. |

Reading is a huge time waster for me. I can read at home in the quiet or go to a cafe if I want to have some distraction while reading.

Friday night is piri-not-cooking night. As are Saturday night and Sunday night.
I can always shuffle a sandwich here and there just not to starve. Cook doesn't do weekends. So, to me they are Grrrrrreat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday nights don't mean anything to me - except that my neighborhood gets louder and it's harder to find parking :/ but in general when I'm struggling with what to do with my (introverted) self I often opt for things like...
- read/ do stuff on my computer at a coffee shop. I love being in coffee shops at night when most people are at bars - makes it feel more like a speakeasy or something. - practice piano (should do this more) - take a bath w/ a book and a glass of wine and/or a tv show (laptop propped on the toilet - one of my favorite guilty pleasures!) - binge watch a good tv show or set of movies (I do also love trashy tv, but watching it alone while depressed always makes me feel worse) - catch up on shores so I don't have to do them when there is something I really want to do - look up recipes I want to try out on my family |

I don't usually do anything on Friday night either. My mom works Saturday morning so I have no babysitter. Sometimes my sister and brother in law come up but not usually. I usually just watch tv or a movie and go to sleep. Sometimes I have some wine.
I would find a good movie to watch.

Well last night (Friday night in Aus) I drank wine slowly while I surfed the net. Then I spoke to a friend on the phone. I usually work Friday nights so that kind of eats it up for me. I don't socialise much either and not by choice. Can you call your friends. Not quiet the same but still good company.

I don't do anything friday nights. I plan on reading tonight though. I'm eating candy right now. You could eat candy. Candy cheers me up.

I don't do much on Friday nights either. I usually call my best friend, but he's out of town for the weekend, so that leaves me all by my lonesome. I usually find solace on PC or just on the internet in general. Right now my favorite movie "Gone With the Wind" is on. So I will probably watch that, and Family Feud.

Some things I try to do: -Ahead of time, make a list of movies, shows, and/or books that you haven't had time to watch or do. Then, you can look at your list and pick something out to do according to your mood -Come up with a playlist of songs to listen to while you are around the house or just browsing online -Treat yourself to your favorite snack and/or meal. -Think of a hobby you haven't done in a while that you can get back into For example: exercise? something artistic? decorating? going to the library or shop for something (although I wouldn't advise that last one if manicky!) -Bubble bath with a book/magazine and maybe a candle (I know someone else mentioned it here, but I second that idea ![]() -Talk to someone on the phone if you have someone close to you that you enjoy talking to -This one is definitely more of a long-term idea: do you have any pets? If you feel you are able to keep up with the responsibility, pets make great companions Just a few ideas. |

I used to party every Friday. Then I had a kid. Then I quit drinking. Then I learned that staying up late and doing anything out of the ordinary can destabilize me. Now we usually go out for an early dinner, home by 7, bed by 9:30. I usually screw around on the Internet or do stuff with my daughter. Tonight we made some pretty rad little animals out of polymer clay. Woo! Par-Tay!
When I resent what bipolar has taken from me in terms of personal freedom, I remind myself that at the rate I was going, had I not given up the drinking and most of my social life, I probably wouldn't be around to enjoy the simple life I have now. Check out polymer clay charms on YouTube. ![]() |
