I love how most BP related pills take forever to work. The best example is Lamictal. Man, does that s*** take FOREVER.

Then when you miss a dose for ONE DAY, you feel like complete s***! It's amazing how slow it takes for medication to work, but how fast it takes for you to feel like s*** if you miss a dose!

IDK. I just thought it'd be an interesting topic to discuss

And no, I haven't forgotten to take my meds. Last time I forgot was like 4 months ago, but I'm just sayin'...

Ahh I'm in such a same situation. My new pdoc changed up my meds and I'm a total emotional roller coaster waiting for this new crap to kick in. I admit I've been needing my PRN benzo a lot more while being a nervous wreck. Pdoc says it can take up to SIX WEEKS?! So wtf am I supposed to do in the mean time? I get the frustration.

I'm about to jump ship with all my meds but vyvanse. the side effects aren't worth it. I'm covered in scars and I take my meds religiously. now heres the kicker, NEVER SIed nor do I get suicidal when I use cannabis. so I think that's what I'm gonna be doing once I get my new pdoc.

I've had it, that's it, I'm out!

Ah yeah... I forgot about the side effects.

Takes like 6-12 weeks for a med to work, but you get side effects immediately! How dumb.

Hope cannabis works out for you. I say, whatever works, go for it.

Do you have a cannabis card already? Or are you gonna apply for one?

Yep I've messed up my meds this week, I'm normally right on schedule but I've missed doses and I've slept for two days, not even sure how I missed doses but I did and I'm paying for it

There are so few meds I can tolerate. Not just psychotropic meds, but all types give me such strong side-effects I cannot tolerate most of them and/or am allergic or otherwise sensitized to them.

I have a friend using cannibas for her psych issues. She feels she is doing better than ever. She is so hypo, so out there and does not know it. When I try to mention this to her, she gets very defensive and denies this. The conversations are mostly nonsense, sadly. She has quit all meds and all therapy.

I do believe there is a role for cannibas. More and more is being learned in research about brain inflammation. CBDs treat inflammation rather safely. The question may be, do CBDs get into the brain cells?

I wish you the best, StopSign, in whatever treatment you use.

Lamictal is a slow starter mainly because you have to titrate up slowly on the medication as there is always the risk of SJS. Lamictal is a mood stablizer but it really only deals with the depressive end of Bipolar and its a background drug so you wont see results quickly.

Due to the half life of Lamical , you must be very med sensitive if one missed dose is that noticable .

Takes times for meds to work, But also when a med is stopped it takes time for your brain to return to functioning without the chemicals.

Based on your med list .. Ablify and Lexapro ? Many Bipolar I people cant take them as it can trigger an ugly mania. Least you got lucky on those.

Gotta love Bipolar and the joy it brings.

And why do doctors have to keep adding meds until you are on half a dozen and don't know whats working and whats not? At least that is the case for me. Why can't they just find one med that works for all the symptoms? Stupid meds!

Yes! So true. I started Latuda a few weeks ago and I don't feel stabilized yet but of course I have side effects already. And if I miss a dose of anything, the next day is hell.
