Yay. I finally booked my business travel to Europe!

I will be visiting Vienna, Austria for a few days on the way back. (I'm paying for the hotel myself, but my company is paying for the plane ticket.) Has anyone been there? Anything I should go see? I'm staying for 2 nights.

I'm excited that I finally got the travel stuff done, although my total travel time From Boston to Prague is 14 hours in one day. lol. (Touching down in Portugal as part of a connecting flight, with like 4 hours layover.) Hopefully I don't get hypo or anything.

Also going to Prague and Krakow. Anyone been there? Anything I should go see there? I can't do any tours unless they're night tours because I'll be busy from 8am-5pm while I'm there. I'll probably be hypo AF, tbh. lol.

I forgot to mention that I get a bunch of discounts on travel because I'm considered a "child" lol

Hi Blue!

How exciting!

How soon is your trip?

You had mentioned you hope you don't get hypo.
I wonder if some other travelers have some tips to offer to you?

I hope you have fun and take lots of pictures!

I am so excited for you! What an experience. Have you travelled long-haul before? It certainly messes with you. I have done many long-hauls and found benzo's to be crucial in keeping me stable (well stable enough) although my flights have been over 20+ hours (up to 45 hours once due to a delay in Chicago). I tend to go up then crash, even get depressed but we're all different. Either way I hope you manage to stay stable on your trip. Have fun!

Nope, never traveled long-haul before.

My total travel time is 12 hours getting there, but I think going back is like 8? I also have less distance to go on the way back, as I'll be staying in Vienna, Austria and catching a flight from there. On the way down, I land in Vienna, but I'm not staying. I'm taking a bus direct from Vienna to Prague.

I plan on taking Ativan. I tend to have extreme anxiety about traveling in general

I think you will find it manageable with Ativan. Sorry to hear you have travel anxiety. Have you been on a plane before?

Yeah, plenty of times. Been flying since I was 2. I've probably flown over 30 times in my life

I just get anxious and nauseous.

Yes, lived there and I am counting the days till I move back. so if you need any tipps, I'm glad to be of service

If you have someone to guide you I would recomment paying a visit to the "deewan". It's a pakistani restaurant with the motto "eat what you want, pay what you want" and yes, they mean it.

What kind of things are you into? more the tourist stuff or more the "show me the locals" stuff? Food? Events (and what kind of)?

I've never had Pakistani food, but I have had Indian food and I like that a lot. I've heard the two cuisines are pretty similar? I love me some Chicken Tikka Masala.

I'll check out deewan - thanks

I like the local stuff. I don't like touristy stuff too much. I think sometimes the touristy stuff can be a bit cheesy depending on what you pick, but sometimes it's great. It's a hit or miss.

I'm not a huge eater. I mean, I like food. I just don't eat a lot of food in general.

Then you'd like the deewan. Buffet so you don't have do deal with the big portions.

[If you like cats you might also visit the cafe neko - You can pet cats there while drinking your coffee]

The green parts of Prater and Donaukanal are nice to take a walk (note: there is a lot of street art in vienna, you might want to look closely if your into that)

1. Bezirk (outside Kärtnerstraße) and Spittelberg are great places to see "old Vienna"

(A bit outside is also an anarchist bookstore and in generell there are also some queer and other places if your interessted in that)
