So, my pdoc is intending to replace Latuda with Abilify, and my recent heart palpitations were possibly the combination of the two meds (according to my pdoc), so Latuda is still being reduced so I can get off of it relatively quickly. My palpitations have pretty much gone away (thank goodness!!).
I started out with 120 mg of Latuda for several years (maybe 3-4 years?). For three weeks, I took 60 mg of Latuda. Now, I'm on 30 mg of Latuda. I've gotten sleepy and sometimes mildly depressed (VERY mild, just kind of lacking joy and feeling tired mostly). I know my pdoc relaly should wean me off more slowly, but if it's causing me the palpitations (and possibly high blood pressure, too), I want to get the heck off of it ASAP. I can't wait to be off of it. Latuda was a great med for me for several years, but now it's time for something new (my insurance won't cover it, and I honestly think it stopped working). I had to take it late at night with a large snack in order to avoid side effects. Now, after I get off of it, I think losing weight and controlling my acid reflux will be easier due to not having a late night snack. ![]()

Hey MusicLover82 -- I started taking Latuda a year ago to help reduce anxiety and intrusive thoughts. It did, but I was fairly flat emotionally and had other side effects. It may have not been because of the Latuda, but just last week I suffered from extreme night sweats and trouble sleeping. Even worse, I noticed signs of tardive dyskinesia. My doc took me off the Latuda immediately, and I have felt much better since. The early signs for TD have almost disappeared, thank God. I have experienced some intrusive thoughts, but I think I can deal with them.
Abilify is the only AP I take now, and I feel it is a good med. It works for me. Good luck with saying goodbye to Latuda. |

I'm glad you have been able to taper off the Latuda and I hope the end is smooth. I just started Latuda (well 6 weeks ago) and have noticed no side effects yet. Still not sure about its positive effects. I think it slows down my mind and deals with my thoughts but it is hard to tell and that didn't improve until 4 weeks in when I was up to the 120mg dose. Think it might be making me dumber though...not sure its the Latuda but it is my first guess due to the timing.
Good luck with Abilify. Hope it works well for you.
