Well I am finally sick enough of that clinic to fire her. Its all a very long story but I will try to condense it and give you the highlights. First she's not a real dr but some sort of nurse which is not OK considering my health problems are not good. I would feel better having a real dr.

Second she's not even a nice person. It wasn't what she said but the way she said it "I don't want to see you again for 6 months." Like I go to the dr too much or something. I only go when my prior drs told me to except when I hurt my arm so I don't know where that even came from. She also accused me of not fasting on some of my labs. WTH? I did fast so I don't know where that came from either. We just don't mesh.

Thirdly she didn't even take in consideration that my meds from my pdoc is probably responsible for my health problems, at least the diabetes, getting so much worse. Geodon can raise the blood sugar. I shouldn't have to look it up for myself and tell her, she should already know that. I want a real dr that can take in account all of the medicines that I am on and make adjustments as needed. I don't trust her.

Fourth they run the worlds crappiest lab there. The last time I went in there they didn't even have the butterfly needles to take blood from my hands. Luckily they got it from my arm which darn near impossible with out being stabbed a half dozen times. This time they had the butterfly needles but they looked much bigger than any I have ever seen before and they blew one of my veins in the process of taking blood.

When they blew that vein I was so angry. I have worked so hard to be stable but I was white hot angry at them yesterday. I have barely any veins left and they just blew one. I shouldn't have to pay to take crap like this. Yeah she's so fired. I already found another dr in the city but I cant see the new one till November. At least I got a good pdoc, I like him.

Yes you have every right to find a new doctor. Before you leave the old nurse practitioner ask to have your a1c drawn, it is a better indicator of your blood sugar levels with a 3 month reading. Are you on diabetic medication?
If your a1c is 6 then you should be on meds for this..
Find out your number.
Be proactive in this.
It is your body and your responsibility to take care of it.
I don't think you should wait until nov to find this out.

sorry if this sounds harsh.....

She sounds awful! Good luck on your pdoc search. I think it is well worth it.

It was an AIC and some other test. I do have diabetes for a few years now. Usually the goal is to keep my AIC down to 7 but that's become very hard to do. I am on two diabetes meds now but I think with how the Geodon is effecting it I need to be on insulin.

Metformin used to control it pretty good but it just stopped working. Then my last dr added trulicity but it made me so sick. Nauseated all day every day so had to stop that one. Now I am on metformin and glimepiride. Don't know if that's going to work or not.

The Geodon I know causes blood sugar problems. But that's not even the worst of it. Now the diabetes is wrecking my kidneys. I am leaking a bunch of protein and I got a referral to see a kidney dr. Waiting months to see them cause they are so booked up.

I basically have metabolic syndrome now. Diabetes, high blood pressure, and hypothyroidism. Also high cholesterol and triglycerides and now the kidney issues. My labs look like a train wreck. That's why I don't think a nurse can handle my case and I need a real dr. Too much stuff is wrong with me.

It's hard to find a doctor that is both, caring and on top of things.
She's using the excuse of the shrink to admit to nothing.
My Pulmo is the most abnoxious human being I know. But is a helluva doctor.
He's my primary now too.
My shrinkette is very also very strong. But a fair fight. Good shrink. A keeper.

pirilin,
I can put up with obnoxious if they are a good doctor. Its just they better be a good dr first ya know. Well got my test results in. My A1C was 7.1 so yay that's the good news.

The rest still looked like a train wreck and their is now two new messed up results. Low creatine and low AST. Been researching this all day, low creatine means nothing good, either liver or kidneys, probably kidneys.

Low AST means basically vitamin B6 deficiency which is nearly impossible to do but I somehow managed it. I think I know what the deal is with it but I will wait to see how this dr handles it. See if she's even been listening to me when I go in there or not.

Found it interesting that low B6 can cause mental health issues. Just what I needed more mental health issues to add to bipolar 1 and anxiety. I must be officially crazy by now it seems lol.

Years ago, I went through a run around with health problems and primary care physicians. My parents recommended I switch over to theirs and I've been so glad I did. Finding a good doctor is important, especially with what you have going on. I'm so sorry you are battling so many health issues. I know how scary it can be. I'm glad you found a new doctor and I hope they turn out to be a proper match for you. Welcome to PC. (((Hugs)))

Man, I'm so sorry for all your health problems. That would be very hard to deal with.
Thanks for this!
