I know this will sound weird but lately something has been up with my hair. The only med that's changed recently is a switch to Geodon. My hair has gone from bad to now its beyond awful. If I was a dude Id shave my head and start over! Next week I am getting it cut short and seeing if that helps any. I have curly hair normally and now its just a frizzy mess that sticks up everywhere. So did Geodon do this or is it something else that I am missing? Help I may need to start buying hats to deal with this.

Oh, I am sorry to hear that. Have you spoken with your doctor? are you sure it is from medication not from hot weather?

I am not sure what its from but it just started recently. The last few months. Its horrible, its so dried out and it knots up so bad its like trying to comb out dreadlocks or something. Its so frizzy that I have to put it in a pony tail and braid it just to make myself look half way presentable.

I cant deal with it anymore so I am cutting it off next week. Its bad enough that my husband was looking up hairstyles on the internet to take to the salon with me. He must think it looks bad too! My hair has always been hard to manage since its curly but nothing like this. This is a drastic change for the worse and I am not sure whats causing it.

Have you had your thyroid tested recently?

I've been through hair issues a few times with meds/hormone issues. Mine is curly too so I know what you are describing. Selenium and biotin have helped me (with a lot of patience). Don't cut it too short or it will just be worse. Mine actually is better since I grew it out long.

I've been on Geodon but I don't think it did anything to my hair. The weather has been hot and humid, though, and it's turning my curly hair into a mess. I tend to need a lot of conditioner and an air of resignation.

I do have hypothyroidism so maybe its gotten worse? I do take a pill for it but maybe my dr needs to retest me and see if the levels are still good. Not quite sure whats going on but I am going to bring this up to my dr.

This is so recent I worried it might be the Geodon since its the only thing that has changed. Good to know it isn't. I don't think its the weather though cause I have had the same hair style for years and it never looked this bad before. Will ask my dr if I can try selenium and biotin (kidney issues) and start looking for a better conditioner.

Thyroid has really messed up my hair once and often if my hair starts to change my med needed adjusted. Somehow it finally stabilized and has been years since I needed any adjustment to my dose. I used to need quite a bit and now I am on a fairly low dose.

The best conditioner I've ever used when my hair was obnoxious was Alterna Caviar. Expensive but effective and it doesn't take tons. I really should buy some now....
