I'm new here and have enjoyed this forum so far. However, it seems to me that a lot of posters blame a lot of stuff on being BP when they might not even be connected. Do you know what I mean? So I thought it would be kind of cool to write down some things that we are that have nothing to do with being bipolar. I have two in mind: I'm patient, and I'm a procrastinator. Nobody except Job is more patient than me, and nobody can outdo me when it comes to postponing something that needs to get done. Neither has anything to do with being bipolar, which I am.
So, if you are like me and reject the idea that everything in your life boils down to being bipolar, feel free to write down one or two things about yourself that prove it to be true. Thank you. GH |

I'm very forgetful. That has nothing to do with BP as I've always been this way. I used to forget my homework, my lunch/money, my viola, everything. I also lose things a lot because I forget where I put them. I've lost so many library books in my life. I'm actually better now that I'm an adult, despite treatment for BP that can mess up your memory.

I am down in the dumps because I lost my husband two weeks ago, but it has nothing to do with BP and I recognize that. I'm down but not depressed, sad but not suicidal...it's just normal grieving.

I can get irritable sometimes and it has nothing to do with BP.
I can get really happy sometimes and it has nothing to do with BP. I can get moody (moods changing rapidly) sometimes with it having nothing to do with BP. Sometimes (caffeine, adrenaline, excitement, etc.) I think and talk really fast and it has nothing to do with BP. Other than that, well, I'm a good listener, I love old movies, and sweet kitty cats. I procrastinate a lot and have a terrible memory, which I suspect is a combination of who I am and BP meds. I live with terrible anxiety surrounding a whole slew of things. I feel like more of a competent and whole person knowing that BP isn't who I am and doesn't dictate all of my moods. Just because I'm in a strong mood, whatever that may be, doesn't mean it's BP, it could just be the mood I happen to be in, and one that is at least somewhat in my control, and not resolvable with meds. |

I'm funny, but TERRIBLE at telling jokes!
I see things all the time that aren't there and they're not hallucinations. (Pareidolia out the wazoo.) Quote:

Since I have multiple MI, it does take some sorting out. Like if my moodiness is BP, borderline, or just typical.
I do know my anxiety can be GAD and not BP related. I have a lot of anxiety right now but I also started a new med regimen so that may be causing it. I'm usually a good listener as well. |

Bipolar is the mother of all evil. The rest is not bipolar.

I am creative, have deep emotion and can be a good listener. I am also sensitive and intuitive. All really have nothing to do with bipolar.
