I hope this does not sound judgmental. I truly understand why people in my family drank heavily, there were so many tragedies/trauma. I have been one of the few to get professional help, one of the "weaker ones," Lol.
There seems to also be a gene or two causing severe alcoholism in all genders of my family members. I am very much afraid of having a genetic predisposition to a form of alcoholism.

I didn't drink on Saturday night and Sunday was horrible. My anxiety was high and my temper extreme. I had a short fuse. It felt like a mixed episode and then towards the end of the day I crashed and was asleep just after 8PM

anyone else the same?
I used to drink a lot more when manic or mixed to take the edge off. During mania, social drinking was more my thing, but during mixed or even depressive periods, I would drink by myself a lot. Now, I drink more in a social situation, or sometimes a glass of wine to relax. However, I do not consume as many drinks as I did prior to being on mood stabilizers/APs. Now, the cravings aren't really there much at all....maybe since the hangovers are twice as bad now on my combination of meds.
