Hey everyone!

Could you be manic/hypomanic if you're still sleeping a good amount? Like the thing is, if I take my trazodone, I still have trouble falling asleep, but once I'm out, I'll sleep about 6-7 hours. However, since I only take it when and if I need it, my sleep has greatly varied. If I don't take the trazodone, I sleep 2-3 hours. Normally, I very much enjoy my sleep, so I'll get 8-9 hours.

I've slept fine when I was hypomanic, but not when I was manic.
Thanks for this!

I don't know the answer to this question. I'm on a new med regime and I'm wondering the same thing. My husband and I have both noticed some manic behaviors like talking too much and fast, bouncing from one thing and topic to the next, racing thoughts..... but I'm sleeping better than usual....deep restorative feeling sleep. I'm keeping an eye on things and so is my husband. I'm not too worried, perhaps I should be but I'm not. Things only get weird for me when I miss sleep and since I'm not, I should be ok.

Can you let your doctor know you suspect hypo and get their thoughts? I'm going to ask my doctor if hypo is possible while still getting good rest at my next appointment.... if things get worse I will call right away.

I'm sorry you are having symptoms which concern you and I hope it eases up quickly and doesn't get worse.
Thanks for this!

That's a good question. I'm sitting in the waiting room at my pdoc's office. I'll ask his opinion for "me" being able to.

I actually saw my doctor earlier this week and he did say I was bordering mania apparently so he increased my lamictal and trazodone dosages. I do see him again in a little under 3 weeks, so if the sleeping issues are still occurring, I'll probably ask him.
Take care yourself and thank you!

The answer is yes. One can be manic or hypo and still be getting regular sleep

I still sleep when manic. Hypomanic is like 6 hours a night. Manic is like 4-5 hours a night. And this is while being floridly psychotic.

For me, yes when hypomanic, especially on sleep meds, no while manic.

Well since I started meds years ago I can, 2mg of Klonopin and 10mg of Zyprexa will knock you out pretty fast. I tend to sleep 8-9 hours a day. Before meds, when manic, I could go through a whole day with only 2 hours sleep, I've done it before.
