Any comforting or practical thoughts welcome! I thought at first that Lamictal was the answer to my bipolar pain. It was, for a while, then I started getting off-balance. Ultimately, I fell off a ramp onto my back on the concrete. Hit my head. That was about 3 weeks ago. Not badly hurt, but hurt, mostly my neck. I go to physical therapy tomorrow. A few days later, my pdoc switched me to lithium. Not doing so good. Very lethargic. Sometimes mildly depressed; sometimes rapid cycling; sometimes irritable all day. The last few days I have canceled all the fun things I usually do with friends, and sleep all day. Did get to see some good videos, though. Reading a thriller - I really like thrillers. Lately, I've found some great cyber-thrillers. The pdoc said, "There are ALWAYS side effects. There are no quick fixes."

I'm sorry that happened. When I tried Abilify I had a few really bad falls. I had other problems with it that ended that med for me.

It's frustrating trying to find a med that works but it will happen.

Maybe the dosage was wrong or the combo was wrong if u were on a cocktail.
I did something wrong w my dosages and collapsed getting out of the pool once. I looked like a beached whale. Now i wouldnt give up my power water aerobics for anything!

I suffered 2 falls (completely blacked out and fell) on Abilify. The first time I fell into my sliding glass door and broke it, ....the next time I was holding my small dog, things went black and I fell to the ground holding her. We both could have easily died if we fell right. These are very serious side effects. They recently put me back on a smaller dose of Abilify. I almost fell several times, was very lightheaded 24/7 and experienced horrible vertigo. I was willing to stay on the med to see if the side effects would eventually go away but my doctor felt it was too dangerous and took me off. He made the right call.....falling down and passing out can kill a person. What if I would have passed out while driving? What if I hit my head just right? I understand that we will have side effects but that is just not an acceptable risk in my opinion.

I'm so sorry to hear about your need to switch from a med that was working for the most part. I really hope the new med works for you. I'm trying a new med also, so I wish us both success. (((Hugs)))

I'm switching the opposite way from lithium which makes me mildly depressed and tired to Lamictal. I hope everything works out for you!
