Here is a link to a PC article on Cognitive Distortions and relationships. I found it very helpful. If the link doesn't work, it's on the front page of the website.
10 Cognitive Distortions That Can Ruin Relationships | World of Psychology I'm posting it because often our problems in relationships have more to do with cognitive distortions than BP itself, but, yes, BP can exacerbate them if we're in an episode. So it might be helpful, for all of us, to evaluate if we're having problems with a relationship due to cognitive distortions (or other non-BP reasons) before jumping to the conclusion that it's all about BP. Especially since, I think, we often have more control over changing these distortions (and without having to resort to medication changes) than BP. And even when in an episode, it can be helpful to have this information as part of our toolboxes to try and have more healthy relationships, as challenging as it can be. |
