So my shoulder has tenditis and I was prescribed Meloxicam for the pain. Honestly it doesn't do anything. How should I bring that up with the doc without sounding like an addict.

Go back and describe how you feel but don't mention a specific drug. If you go in and say "only Percocet works for me" that's one of the red flags. I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for this!

Go back and explain what is going on. I don't know if the med they gave you was supposed to bring down inflammation, but that is more of what you need. Good luck!

Just an anti-inflammatory, so pain reliever, not pain killer. They don't do anything for me either

Some anti inflammatory drugs work best if you take them consistently over time, and don't work that will PRN. It might be that it should reduce pain after taking it consistently for several days, not after just an isolated dose or two. I don't know about this specific drug though.

I'd just continue to take the meloxicam as directed and call the doctors office to let them know it's not giving you any relief and ask what they recommend. If you come right out and ask for pain meds, you'll likely not get any.

I take it for the same problem basically.... but I didn't real feel any relief until about 2 weeks. To me this a medication that needs to build up in there system.

Hope you find something that help

I think it is generally the first course of action to go with an anti inflammatory for any type of tendinitis. The last thing you want it to make it worse because it does not hurt any more.

If it's been 3 months it's not likely to start working.

Have you had physical therapy? After 3 months that's probably going to do you as much good as medication.

Like the others have mentioned, I would call the doctor and tell them it's not helping and ask what they recommend. They are right, if you outright ask for something, you probably aren't going to get it. Everyone has cracked down on prescribing them. Hugs!

Yea had pt for almost a month now. Pain has reduced a bit. The ptherapist said he would recommend more time I'm still weak on that shoulder.

Although Percocet or Vicodin would be nice, I need something during the day and when I'm active. I see my orthopedist Friday so I will mention the ineffectiveness of it. I was thinking of asking for motrin 800 or higher. I remember having a bad backache and took a couple of bayer did nothing then the Motrin and felt great.

When I had ankle reconstruction surgery they gave me Naprosyn which is prescription strength aleve. It was REALLY good, better than vicodin in fact. It might be worth asking about it. No drug seeking so fine to ask for that specifically. I think it's easier on your stomach than high dose ibuproferon.

Yea I had tendinitis on my ankle and was prescribed naprosen as well. If I remember right it did help and was great for other aches. But I dunno if it'll help my shoulder. Maybe I can get both Motrin and naproxen lol.

Good advice. Describe symptoms. Ironically I do take Percocet but I have chronic pain. But I didn't ask for Percocet. Little Cat has good advice.

The tramadol is working well but only took it once. Motrin not sold in it yet but think it is helping.
