It's been a three year wait for me. Was denied twice. Have an attorney. Finally went to court. Now waiting for the answer, another 6 month wait. Have not been able to work through any of it. Were it not for my Father helping me I would have been homeless. I'm in NC.

I finished function report and additional documents and put in mail today.
A big relief to have it complete. Nerve racking to not know what will happen for I'm guessing 60 days or so. But maybe not? I talked to the DDB reviewer yesterday and told her I was sending it in and had additional documents. I was worried I was going to miss the deadline of 10 days. She gave me 10 additional days, and said they will make a decision based on my file after reviewing what they have at that point. I do not know if they have already gotten medical records or sent for information from MD. As I said, nerve racking, though is another step forward in getting my health back. |

I got another form today. It asks if I use drugs or alcohol. Kind of odd but maybe this is just part of the process. I do not use drugs and very rarely drink anymore, if I do it's a glass of wine. Anybody else gotten this form?

piano - No. But maybe they haven't sent it yet or something.

I thought it was kind of odd, someone else did tell me there'd be all kinds of forms to fill out. Maybe is because bipolar has higher rates of alcohol/drug abuse. Or maybe is just part of all reviews. I hope there are not a lot more forms, it says to return within 10 days, or they will make a decision based on what's in my file. But that's what the last letter said a couple weeks ago and I just now sent that in.

It's just random how some it works. It varies state to state (which makes no sense to me since it's a federal program). And it never made sense to me that they sent the big form to my therapist (both initially and with my 4 year review this year) rather than my pdoc. I'm glad because he was able to do it much faster than my pdoc could but it still is weird.

Seems like from what I read all cases have to rule out alcohol/substance abuse as a primary cause of disability. I put that I drink a glass of wine with dinner occasionally. The questions are intense though, like how many dollars a day do you spend on alcohol or drugs. Seems kind of accusatory, but I thought that to some degree on the function report that the questions were to try to find a reason to deny benefits. So I guess this is a normal part of process and I can look forward to more forms in the future lol, based on what I'm finding out.

What forms have people gotten along the way of the application process? I've filled out the function report and sent that in. I also sent other paperwork showing leaves of absences, etc.
