The medical system here in US runs people so far into debt, and it's getting way worse. If only our political leaders would pay attention to what is working in other countries!
Thanks for this!

I'm way in debt from medical bills.

I have great insurance. Free after I meet my $500 deductible. Which is great cos my insurance company has covered tens of thousands in IP costs this year!

Canada - it was free.

However, if I had been taken by ambulance that would have cost me a few hundred dollars. When I presented myself to my family doctor and he made the decision I needed to go to the hospital he arranged for a ride.

It cost me $100,000 for one month at a rich person's retreat/psychiatric hospital. Fortunately my insurance paid all of it, but the President of my company had to approve it since they were self-insured. I made it up to them several years later by getting them out of a crisis.
